Congrats on the watch, hope you enjoy it and that it arrives for the special "day".
For me it would all come down to how good the "service" was. If it truly had a "full service" as you were led to believe, that in and of itself can be worth $1000 (or more) on a watch from 1990. So in reality you may have paid only ~$3350 for the watch and another $1000 for the service.
I have had every one of my vintage watches serviced properly (even when the buyer insisted it had already been done...). The total cost to get to a fully functioning properly serviced watch can be much higher than the selling price of the watch. People don't trust claims of "fully serviced" due to the blatant over-use (dare I say outright dishonesty) that is so common, and so somehow this major point doesn't even enter into any discussions on what something is worth. Very strange to me...
