Advice on Seamaster 300 blue

Hey guys

so, I’m really liking the Seamaster 300 blue 210.30.42.20.03.001 and I really want it on a bracelet… I must be honest and I find the current one dated and kinda old fashioned looking… I keep trying to make myself like it so I can make the purchase but I can’t warm to it although I love the blue face and everything wise about it… it seems I’m not alone in my views?

So, is it worth holding on rather than looking at alternative watches? Does anyone think that we’re likely to see any charges to the bracelet anytime soon?

What tactics do you use to 'try to make yourself like it'? Maybe you're not trying hard enough or doing something wrong.

Have you seen in up close and tried it on? I wasn’t that big on the bracelet either until I tried it on in the dealer. It’s much nicer in person and feels great on the wrist. If you haven’t yet done so, try it on. You might be surprised.

keep going to my local Goldsmiths store to try on and just can’t get myself 100% to like it… I think one of the issues is I’ve been looking at a Rolex Submariner and even think the Seamaster is the nicer watch face to look at I do really like the Submariner strap

I’ve tried it on so many times and it does feel great it’s the style of it that I can’t be 100% sure on… I was kinda hoping they may have plans to maybe launch a new model with a new strap but don’t know what people think the possibility/likelihood people think that this would happen

Can’t help you there, it is your shout. Some would burn me at the stake for suggesting it, others are less bothered. (Me being one, I have the blue and put it on an Amazon £10 red nato in the summer!)

I know what you mean, I’d rather keep it all Omega but options I do need to consider… I would hate to bite the bullet and buy it then a new model come straight out as that’s just my luck lol, not sure how often Omega refresh their range… so many things to consider…

That bracelet hasn’t changed much in 30 years. That could mean it’s overdue or it could mean it’ll stay the same for the foreseeable future. I’d guess the later. I was also going to suggest the Uncle Seiko or Forstner alternatives. You could also research if other genuine Omega bracelets fit. End link fitment and compatibility become the issue there. That’s probably a can of worms that’s been opened here before.

If you’re not dead set on the latest model you could also try to find an older one, save a bunch of coin, and then use the difference to experiment with bracelets.

Uncle Seiko and Forstner make very nice bracelets that will fit the 42mm SMP. I do not think it cheapens the look of the watch. You can also combine Forstner end links with the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary bracelet and have a very good looking bracelet that still carries the Omega branding. See photo below for what it looks like.

I own multiple versions of the 41mm SMP and the blue ceramic 42mm SMP. I very much dislike the OEM "Bond style" bracelet and never wear them on that bracelet. It is well made but hideous in appearance. Thankfully I have many bracelets I can wear instead.

Just buy a Sub. You know that's what you really want. ::stirthepot::

Hmmm. Probably just me but I feel the bracelet is it's signature and is iconic as the watch itself. The same can be said for the helium escape valve. They make the Omega SMP, the SMP.

I agree, personally I love the bracelet.

I never really got on very well with the bracelet, then tried it on a blue rubber strap and haven’t looked back!

This is my favorite. Cleaner dial without the waves. Better than a black dial Sub.

I thought I would love that version as I love blue and I love gloss dials. But the bezel insert markings were too muted in lower light. Not legible enough. The 42mm blue ceramic wave version fixed that problem but then Omega made it too big and thick. Ah, first world problems...
