Advice on removing these bloody spring bars

I recently acquired this Beta21 Constellation with its original shark skin strap. I want to swap the strap for a bracelet but would like to preserve the strap. Unfortunately the spring bars have no shoulders. Even though there are cut outs in the end links to access the spring bars, there’s nothing available for my spring bar tool to latch to. I want to avoid scratching and damaging the lugs. There’s very little space to work with. Any suggestions?

Do you have better access to them if you take off the case back?

Ignore everything you read here and take the damn thing to the watchmaker!
I may have to ultimately do this but thanks @Syzygy for the threads. If all else fails then it’s time for the torch!
