    Hello,

I am considering a constellation pie pan which seems to be original once I googled it. Would appreciate your advice on the authenticity and price and the seller since this is international. The seller is in Japan and seems to have a wide selection. Here is the link to the listing:

    Thanks.

The seller has a good reputation. Nothing is jumping out at me but, if you'll post photos, not just the link, the Connie experts will be by to let you know.

As a non Connie expert - this is priced quite respectfully. They aren’t asking too much nor would you be walking away with the bargain of a century. If you’re after a pie pan Connie this isn’t a bad idea in my books! Pull the trigger

The case is a little polished but not too bad
    - and the medallion is a little worn but still visible.
As @Shabbaz says, remember taxes and the cost of a service but the price for a SS pie pan 14393, in this condition, from a dealer, is extremely reasonable IMHO

I have sent a note to the seller on customs duty etc to the US. Will let you all know what I find out. If anyone has experience on US taxes/duties, please do let me know.

Thanks everyone for your advice. Much appreciated!

US duty is about 5%. Most of the time, out of Japan, you don't get charged (never have buying from Closer) but the last watch I got from Japan, the USPS was waiting to collect. BTW, you may or may not get a response from Closer.

Yeah, the lovely 21% tax on postal costs plus the admin charge really makes my blood boil every time

And regarding the watch, I think it is a solid buy at that price.....especially if the tax Gestapo don't get their hands on it first

It is a nice example: sharper ones seem to be priced a lot higher on Chrono24.

As for import taxes, for Australian members buying from overseas, insist on vendors sending via USPS, EMS, Royal Mail as appropriate, rather than using Fedex or DHL. The courier companies are locked into Australian Customs and act on their behalf, so there is no escape from the dreaded GST and an extra import tax on watches (as I discovered a while ago when I paid 10% GST + 5% import duty + big Customs admin charge).

Be aware that eBay's Global Shipping Program is a big contributor to these extra charges because it uses contracted couriers. Unless you can arrange with a vendor to sidestep it in favour of their national postal service, be ready for a big shock.

Fortunately for us, for some reason national postal service items coming into Australia are still able to slip through - at least for the time being. (I hope there are no Tax Office or Customs guys reading this - if you are please do a Nelson).

Exactly what is happening here in Canada .This seller ships EMS to me and all my shipments went thru custom nicely with no charge. (they opened them, had a look and taped it)
