Hi OF fellow members who contributed to this thread @mbeast @asrnj77 @VintageWatchIta @Fusion @104RS @zwjk @Togri v. 2.0 @ICONO @Overgrower
... would you recommend this one or not really?
many thanks!

Hi OF,
Reviving this thread (again), to have your opinion on this in-much-better-condition-and-also-much-more-expensive 16718 😀 (19k€)

all pictures here: https://www.chrono24.fr/rolex/rolex...xpaper---excellent-conditions--id17219035.htm

What do you guys think? I see:
- dial looks original
- ding at 12 and 8 on the bezel
- good case: polished once at max
- high price

thanks a lot for your advice !

Looks nice to me and agree with your assessment. No 'red flags' as such. Not sure how easy it would be to find the appropriate bracelet if that's what you'd be looking to do.

Looks nice but I would guess that the case has been refinished over being polished once. Doesn’t matter to me personally but something to consider. It’s nice that it has box/papers but it’s still a lot of money for not having the bracelet. Those bracelets nowadays are going to be over $10,000 so you’re almost better off finding a watch that already has one if you think you’ll want the bracelet down the road

@mbeast I like it more with a strap, than with the gold bracelet (and it's already my max budget!)

Thanks @asrnj77 , what do you mean by "refinished" ? Do you mean it has not been polished, but simply replaced by a new one?

I was thinking along the lines of a lathe machine and being recut by a place like LA Watchworks. Again, I don’t think there is anything wrong with this so long as the seller isn’t claiming unpolished and selling it at a premium. It’s possible it’s original and unpolished but I think only the individual owners through the years would know for sure.

I don't think the refinishing (if it has been done) looks bad at all, but obviously there's been some wear on it based on the scratches from all the strap changing, and certainly it needs a service, so figure that in your costs as well.

For me, personally, I think all Rolex watches are horribly overpriced, and I don't like yellow gold either, and it's just not an exceptionally desirable watch. On a bracelet, I'd like it a lot more.

Hard to tell from just the two poor pictures, but I don't think that second one at auction is in "worse" condition from what I can tell. Aren't those prices the expected result? If you can pick it up at the low end of the range, and there is protection against it being not authentic, that may be worth exploring.
