Hi OF Possibly going to look at this GMT today. It comes with original gold jubilee bracelet, original box and several service receipts, one being from Rolex in 2010. Looks to be from1989, looks to have a service dial and the seller has said the jubilee is pretty worn. Can anybody see any other concerns??? Has anybody had a full gold jubilee bracelet refurbed and stretch taken out by Michael Young??? Chrono 24 seem to price these around £15000, which being Chrono24 I suspect quite high. What would seem a fair price with the worn jubilee taken in to account?? Thanks in advance gentlemen
Michael Young can repair the jubilee stretch. It's best if you contact him directly for a quote on gold bracelet. Factor in a couple of thousand for the bracelet refurbishment and at least 6 weeks for the turnaround.
I would value 9 k for the watchhead + Whatever the ‘weight value’ is in gold, of the bracelet IMO…It’s not wildly attractive, a proposition
Agreed, it is not very attractive. It has a service dial so why not just hunt down a newer specimen with an original SL- dial. The lugs also seem to have different thinkness but it could just be the angle. I wouldn’t do it but that is just me...
I agree with the above posters. $15k Euros is a lot of money for a watch with a service dial and overall condition.
Hard pass. She's seen the polishing wheel quite a bit, seems like you've got a mishmash of tritium and superluminova (unless hands replaced too), you would be starting from a pretty low point and the price is insane for what that is. Jubilee has seen way better days of course.
I think a couple of thousand is a bit aggressive. He did my gold/steel Jubilee bracelet for $250. My guess is all gold would be $450. He's not adding gold to your bracelet, just re welding the holes.
reviving this thread for a question: how can you tell on theses 16718 that this is a service dial? Is it because it states "SWISS MADE" instead of "SWISS t <25" ? thx! cc @Togri @zwjk @VintageWatchIta
I believe they were made until 2005 so if it was made after around 1998 it would have the swiss made dial. Before that (give or take) should be tritium. You should be able to get a better idea of which dial it should have by the serial number.
Yes. I believe they changed in ‘98 and those early dials said “SWISS” and then went to “SWISS MADE” around 2000. Prior to ‘98 it should be “Swiss - t<25”
Hi OF, Reviving this thread (again), to have your opinion on this in-much-better-condition-and-also-much-more-expensive 16718 (19k€) all pictures here: https://www.chrono24.fr/rolex/rolex...xpaper---excellent-conditions--id17219035.htm What do you guys think? I see: - dial looks original - ding at 12 and 8 on the bezel - good case: polished once at max - high price thanks a lot for your advice !
