You're right that many Swiss watches looked like this at some point, but why fake? I doubt it. Many brands were selling generic quartz pieces like this in the 70s/80s.

I’d need a better look at the dial, but my initial impressions (based on the blurry picture), remain. I’m skeptical that it’s genuine. Happy to be proven wrong for the OPs sake 😀
