Then dodged back into its path.

So you see again the same exact watch you already purchased, but they said they couldn't find it so they cancelled the deal, then posted it again and asked for more money? To me, that raises a bunch of red flags (common saying meaning 'something is very wrong here...beware!). Just my gut feeling, but I do hope everything works out for you.

There's really not much long-term risk buying on eBay, but it could take a while to get your money back if it does end up being a scam.

Generally I only buy new things off ebay dealing thru legitimate businesses and I have never been burned once but whenever you buy secondhand items from private sellers I have had about a 60 to 70% disappointment rate with dishonest descriptions being the main fare rather than non delivery of goods, this was my first non delivery in many hundreds of transactions from online auction platforms over the last 15 years.

IMO, what happened to you the first time is not even worth complaining about. You got your money right back. Happens all the time when a seller changes his mind. Annoying, but very minor. Buyers frequently back out of eBay sales also. Again, it's an annoyance but not a scam.

Much worse is the seller who takes your money and sends you a package with a $5 Timex ... or a rock. Then you will need to go through the eBay refund process and the seller will fight it and call you a liar. You will win in the end, but it's not a good use of your time.

It鈥檚 nice to read about somebody who despite all the roadblocks placed in their way, continues to allow their obsession to motivate them across all obstructions.

The idea of me criticising the aesthetics or choice of watch that is the subject of the obsession, is a very dangerous road for me to go down because I have chased after some weird things. As a friend recently pointed out to me, perhaps it is the hunt that I really like.

After all, if we were each of us to turn inward and criticise the things that we chose to buy, surely that is not in the spirit of Omega Forums, where we each support ourselves to buy the most ridiculous things completely unnecessary and unjustifiable by so-called normal people.
so I do not question the OP鈥檚 driving obsession to acquire the subject of his desire, nor do I question the nature of that desire.

There is nothing to be gained in trying to convince a man his wife is ugly, just be thankful you don鈥檛 have to sleep with her every night.

Back to the watch. I did not realise that Lorus was a subsidiary of Seiko, which makes me more interested in this watch. I don鈥檛 know how much money it is but it can鈥檛 be very much, and so I imagine that this would be quite a rewarding experience to own for awhile.

Amen brother we buy watches for ourselves not for others. Even when I wear my most expensive watch (which comparable isn鈥檛 even that expensive) no one ever comments on it. People seem more interested in what the latest smart watch can do. I鈥檓 big on seiko I didn鈥檛 know about the Lorus thing either but as long as the person buying the watch likes it, that鈥檚 all that really matters.

I wore my favorite wrist watch yesterday, my Hamilton Piping Rock. I guarantee no one who saw it gave it a second thought, unless it was to ponder why a man was wearing such a tiny watch. I don't see the appeal of this watch but if the OP likes it, he likes it.

The only thing I don't get is buying the second watch after he stated that it was obviously the same watch just at a higher price and listed by what he suspected to be a shill account.

Seller is using ebay for beta testing the price to charge, eventually.

+1 !
