🥰
Thanks for this. Not quite as nice as a visit in person but no jet lag either. Very enjoyable.
Jepp.. jetlag is brutal here in Sweden!
Always secured with Gin and Tonic!!😁

Well….@Drmexicoll,
It was a very cold and well deserved plain lager!
And it could have been a pint of Vodka aswell, I would have downed it in no time after my day!::psy::
I bet it was cheaper than in Sweden.

He has a YouTube channel where you can see both 👍

I'll echo the previous thanks - really appreciate you posting this. Spent the weekend watching the ebay series £100 - to a rolex. And then realised halfway through that I think I met Simon at the first London Watch Show! Would never have found the channel without the link - love this forum! Would heartily recommend the ebay series to anyone who wants a good video overview of some classic movemenst, the 30 movement in particular.

Good choice to trust Simon with this work!

He did a great, sympathetic job, on a Seamaster for me a few years ago.

My journey to Simon Freese was bumpy, unpleasant and I would rather not have it again. It`s a shame really.

Simon has had a lot of work on and a difficult last 12 months, but has some more support now from @wristpirate and a London link for easier drop off and collection. The collectors I see have been very happy with his work which is always very sympathetic towards vintage.

I think simon has been distracted from servicing by his quest to sell his own watches. I was also not happy with his servicing of my watch 3 years ago. Simon charged me a lot of money but the watch ran just as poorly. Suffice to say the chap I subsequently sent it to questioned that it had actually been serviced. I wouldnt use him again.

Thought it worth mentioning that this thread is starting to fill up with posts from people (myself included) who are currently or have previously taken Simon to court.

It is since you just joined the forum ;0)

I have always been in awe of watchmakers being unskilled in the art myself. How they make and repair a strong, technical and functional device from hundreds of parts, some weighing a few milligrams never ceases to amaze me. For those time served and skilled individuals, it does at times appear to be somewhat of a monastic existence, which also seems extra relevant at this time of year. I imagine while we chew on our turkey and have our New Year’s Day celebrations some watchmakers might even be toiling alone in their workshop, like some lost elf in the grotto playing catch up. Given their numbers seem to be dwindling, as a community when possible we should nurture and support to keep independent watchmaking alive. Large scale corporate services can only do so much and for all their alleged cold efficiency it can lack a human touch (for better and for worse at times). To err is human but, when the computer says no you reach a new level of frustration.

In my previous comments above I have listed a physical location and some PM options to help if people have historic issues (and clearly some have which is regrettable). Many here have not had a bad experience and I am lucky to be in that contingent.

Being in festive mood I think Jeremy Paul, Keith Strachan and Leslie Stewart show us the best way forward, Hopefully 2025 will get some things back on track.

A time for forgiving and for forgetting

Christmas is love, Christmas is peace

A time for hating and fighting to cease

Children singing Christian rhyme

With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree

A time to rejoice in the good that we see
