A Noobie's Constellation Dilemma

Hi all,
I am brand new to this forum and have been sapping up everyone's knowledge for the last few weeks. First off, thank you all so much for the time and advice you put in this forum, it is truly a gift and has given me knowledge to last a lifetime in addition to doubling my interest in vintage watches.

I am searching for what I consider my first actual watch. I'm looking to have this be my quasi-daily-driver and so I wanted a mix of utility, elegance, uniqueness, and versatility. After considering De Villes, Seamasters, and Constellations, I have ended up with a shortlist of 2 very similar Constellations (and a Seamaster Cosmic 2000 in distant third).

Here are their links:

https://www.chrono24.com/omega/cons...y-dial-stainless-steel-c-case--id17644412.htm

With regards to the first Connie in the white dial, is that bezel original? It bears striking resemblance to the new Globemaster Annual Calendar (the dream watch for another time) but I am wary of it being unoriginal and perhaps drive the workmanship of this piece down.

With regards to the Connie in the grey dial (my favorite by a tiny margin), I notice that there is some issue with the omega logo on the bottoms of the "ega." Is this a serious concern or can it easily be fixed by a pro?

Lastly, as far as my rookie eyes can tell, the prices for both of these pieces should be closer to $1400 for the white dial and $1300 for the grey. Would any of you pros concur? I know it comes down to a matter of taste largely, but which would you pick?

Edit: Reached out to the seller and got more images! Glad to say that it is a 564 movement and not an early 1000 caliber!

Interesting, that one also has the dial from the white connie I'm looking at so it's probably original then馃憤

I see no obvious red flags on either, but I am no pro. I would want to get a movement shot of the grey one before spending that much. I think prices are high. The prices you suggest would be OK in my opinion. The white one is in stellar condition, but you plan to wear it right? The grey is still in fine condition and you won't have to worry about the first scratch. I prefer the date only to the day-date, but that's a personal preference. I am pretty sure the grey is a few years older, if that matters to you.

I agree on more shots for the grey, seeing just the front is mildly annoying. I have reached out to the seller before and he seemed nice enough, hoping bargaining will lead to an ok or more than ok deal. I agree with your taste, the date only keeps up with the minimalistic elegance of the piece to my eyes. Thank you for the advice and info! The mint quality on the white one has me slightly nervous and guilty about wearing it too...

C-cases are a great entry point. Prices are definitely on the high side of the spectrum, but still find give that they are both in nice condition, if you can make sure they have been serviced.
The nice thing about these is that you have a large number of variants, so you can find out which configuration you like best and go for that one.
For what it鈥檚 worth, I prefer the smooth bezel, simple date (in stead of day-date which is later) and no lume versions.
In the end it鈥檚 all personal.
Have you come across desmond鈥檚 great article?

Regarding prices, I would expect at this level a matching bracelet and/or a service. At least an original buckle.

Thank you, it was on my mind but now I will definitely ask about their service history. I believe I've heard of desmond's article elsewhere on the forum but I don't believe I have read it yet

Don't forget that, unless a service/warranty is explicitly stated, you may add a few hundreds to the final tab 馃槈 . No matter what the seller usually says ("working", "clean movement", etc). Not a bad thing per se, as you then have the choice of the watch guy you will send it to and don't have to rely on a stranger's word. But keep that in mind when you are comparing prices.

Hi @Jasonk98 great first post!

You have some solid advice here from other members, I just thought I would add my thoughts as I am a previous owner of a c-cased day/date with the knurled bezel and really enjoyed it. I only let it go recently to make way for a Globemaster.

As others have said, definitely try to get some movement shots and have a look at the c-cased thread linked above, when I was looking I got a lot of info from that thread and even ended up buying one from a fellow OF member!

Another consideration is the day/date, not a huge deal as you have said you want this as a daily diver but if your collection grows and you wear in rotation you need to factor in setting the day/date - as said not a huge deal as it takes under a minute to do but when I hadn't worn mine for a few days and was in a grab and go situation it meant the c-cased wasn't chosen as I like to have the day/date set and didn't have time.

Also the c-cased does have a bracelet "bricks" that accompanies it, in case you haven't seen one on a bracelet there are pics in the thread. I preferred mine on leather.

Both look nice, good luck in your hunt! Also worth keeping an eye in the private sales section: https://omegaforums.net/forums/private-watch-sales/ as they come up from time to time.

I think you need to post higher resolution pictures from different angles.

While the grey dial has some obvious flaws, the silver dial watch looks to have some paint flaking off on the markers. However, it could be reflective glare from the crystal or the camera angle causing it to look like that.

At the prices being offered, you should expect a good dial.
