This device slits down 35mm to 24mm so it can be loaded into an APS film cartrage.
I found some of this which I modified from a project on the Wayback machine. If you never heard of APS film, then you are lucky.
Modified the sketchup which was for a 3d printed model to work with laser cut sides. Since this has to work in a film changing bag photographing it is a bit tricky.
I also realized I will need to process the film. I probably can not ask the lab which can process APS to run experimental stuff through there equipment. There is no magnetic data on it. Some cameras may not like it either. Which is a whole 'nother issue.
I am surprised there is not more hacking of the old 1990s point an shoot cameras. Modern controllers like the Arduino, can easily replace the custom controller. Those cameras are full of gear motors lenses and such. Which is Ironic as this project predates my re-interest in watches what started in 2022. When I took some APS cameras to Switzerland.
I did find some stuff online for simple microprocessor controlled C-41 (and other format) processing. To that effect I have been acquiring pumps and valves for such a machine. The same laser cutter can cut some of this, although I find that the bending and gluing to be a bit on the iffy side.
I just got a film tank which I modified. Should be getting some more stuff from Amazon in the next week or so.
Most of this is research. I am still having to deal with my aging parent who just turned 93. This requires I be nearby to assist, which can be every 10 or 20 minutes. I do get one day a week though to work on the pipe organs and visit the laser on the way home.
To that effect, I have also taken to use the laser to cut out some Zero G- Gravity indicators. For which I intend to make space suits.
The only reason I post it here is that, the plush toy and the watch strap was made with the same machine I am using to make the photo processing stuff. These are little things what I can do in the in between times. (while waiting for more junky overpriced e-Bay watch parts.)
