It’s here ::psy:: The great watch roll giveaway!

This watch roll started its life as a thrift shop jacket, and was recently destined to become a journal cover for me. Unfortunately, once I had a pattern sketched out, I realized that the largest piece of leather was 1cm too small on one corner 😡. What’s a watch enthusiast to do?! Well, make a watch roll of course! Funny enough, I already have one, so I thought it would be more fun to entertain the masses with a giveaway than stuff it unused into a drawer 👍 Besides, with restrictions lifting you might actually need to use one soon.

My hope is that entrants will consider making a gift to a favourite charity, or that you’ll finally decide to mow the old lady’s lawn across the street, or that you will do something kind and inspiring for your self, etc etc. Basically, I hope that in our words and actions we make someone smile.

What you have a chance at winning 😀
A handmade three-watch leather watch roll, complete with leather inserts to protect casebacks from bracelets. Shipping is included. Watches not included, just for clarity 😒 Legal disclaimer, I am a hobbyist, and that’s the level of finishing you will get. Ernest, but not Hermes.

How to win it 😕
The draw will be made next Friday, or whenever I notice that there are 50 likes to this post, and I can then complete the list of entrants, whichever comes first. That’s it, just like this post and your name will be entered. Don’t miss out, like this today!

Whoa dude, no bonus entries? 🤦
Okay sure. A total of one bonus entry per person if you post below and add to my knowledge about what material the case of my 1926 Elgin is made of. Results were inconclusive on an earlier thread, and I just remembered that I haven’t finished researching Scepter cases. Thank you in advance. 📖

And the photos of the watch roll?🍿
Note that the dye is still drying on the inserts, the colour will even out soon

Good luck!

That’s what she said?

As for the case in the absence of any hallmarks I’m going Stainless steel.

Due to the engraving it seems like it should be silver... but I don’t see any tarnish and lack of hallmarks....

very n no ice work on the case though! The dials pretty special too. Is the movement highly decorated?

Nickel-silver, aka "German silver"

It's a nickel-copper-zinc alloy with a luster resembling silver, but not containing actual silver.
Was popular for silvery-like flatware (forks, spoons) from roughly this era.
Some watch cases were made of it as well.

Thank you Foo. The movement is a run-of-the-mill, but very popular, Elgin 315. Movement and outside caseback are below

I like your watch. I like your roll.
I do not want or need your roll, so I do not like this post.

Metal!
New members and collectors, this giveaway is for you too! Help me get to 50 likes in the post above. You’ll get a chance at winning a watch roll, and we can wrap this up before @WYO_Watch provides any more helpful horological guidance 😉

Scepter is a base-metal case so a blend of copper, zinc, tin.
I actually would like a watch roll, thanks for the fun! 😀

Just to keep this thread bumped up top to attract more entries & get us to 50 likes to the post above, who wants to share pics of their Scepter cased watches?

I do!

But I don't have any Scepter cased watches to share.
In lieu of that, a pic of the pen-penultimate winning watch of the giveaway way:
(the way that gives away watches as opposed to the role of watching watch rolls roil)
