A little help with my Constellation (yes value, no this isnt a sale ad)

Afternoon all,

I am updating my home insurance policy and will be adding my watches to the rider. My question is what is the rough value I should be putting on this guy? The dial is just lovely, but I know the crown is a replacement (obviously) and the previous owner unfortunately gave it a polish. I dont have any shots w the caseback off, but I am hoping some folks here might be able to narrow the rough year down by the applied metal and the cross hatch.

Thanks for the look and any assistance you can provide.

IMO, for insurance, you want to put a value on it at which you'd be able to replace it. So using a dealer's asking price for a similar model would be fair, maybe $1,500-ish?

For sale in open auction: around $7-800 I guess. An insurer's evaluation? I guess it should be around what a new, steel Constellation costs?

The case is overpolished and the medallion, in particular, looks pretty worn, so that’s not going to help the value. I’d go with Dan’s suggestion of $1,500 which is more than I would pay for this example.

It is a constellation reference 14381, powered by a Chronometer 551, dome dial, worn case and newer replacement crown.
Market value is about $800 more or less.

Insurance companies tend to assess at new replacement cost to the best of my knowledge.
