Well, the day turned out to be pretty darn good. Found this gem sitting with an older man who's father bought it new in 1969. 4,220SEK (Swedish krona) which was roughly 800usd back then. Taking the inflation into consideration 4200SEK would be 43.000SEK today which means 4100usd. A bargain.. Imagine going in to a store buying a solid gold Omega on a solid gold bracelet today for 4100usd.. gosh..

All in all, a complete package in solid gold 馃榾 Sorry for the bad pics.. more to come, eventually 馃榾

Have a great weekend.

According to Measuring Worth, in 1969, US$1 bought about 5.1 Swedish Kroner. So 4,220 Kroner was more like $820 at that time. That would have meant that in Switzerland (where it was made) that watch would have cost about 3,400 Swiss Francs.

Assuming the same inflation rate at about 10:1, that gives you around 34,000 Francs. At current exchange rates, that鈥檚 roughly $36,000.

I think that鈥檚 a fair price today for a top grade 18K gold watch and bracelet brand new.

I was able to find this ad from a 1971 Swiss catalog:

In dollar terms, this is closer to $700. Still works out to about $30,000 with inflation and depreciation of the dollar.
