A first thread from me, and a question about 2451s

Are you certain this is the same size, from the same reference?

And the good dial repainters I would assume would do their own homework. I don't really know. It's so frowned upon here, nobody really gives a ton of info about the really good ones. Most are crappy, and we like it that way. Makes them easy to spot.

It's meant to be from a 321 movement, apparently a seamaster and diameter is 29.6mm. So it's a risk, but why not.

Don't think you lot will have any issue spotting that it's a respray!

I think you've been pretty lucky there as there are quite a few different 321/27CHRO C12 dial sizes depending on case reference.

I've measured a 2451 dial to be 29.7mm so 29.6mm will certainly fit.

I measured mine at ~29.6 before buying, but still not counting my chickens until it arrives and I offer it up to the movement.

i haven't managed to find a picture of a watch with that dial, plenty of similar with metal numbers, or painted numbers but without the metal logo.

Just in the process of getting this watch tidied up, doesn't anyone have any recommendations for places in the UK that do laser welding so I could get a couple of dents in the case filled?

Also just trying to find a replacement crystal for it, all of the tables on the internet seem to suggest that this reference needs a 32.1 - 32.2mm crystal but I think that assumes it's a steel/plated case rather than a gold one. The actual ID is only 30.8 - 31.1mm - any idea where I might be able to find a genuine replacement - or is it just a matter of trial and error?

Incidentally, if anyone in the UK needs a 32.2mm NOS one (MIS 977) with logo in the centre and a gilt expander ring let me know.

It’s an obvious repaint but it’s useable again now and the original dial is safely tucked away whilst I decide what to do with it .
