It's been a long day and I've come home to this pretty Baume & Mercies... which leaves me feeling sad. (Say "awww" everyone!). The case is in better than OK condition but the hands and dial are gorgeous. The lume looks like gold when the light catches it. Unfortunately, this watch has been well used and intermittently serviced. I picked it up from one of my watchmakers last week who said he has been unable to find any replacement parts and has serviced it as best he can. The watch keeps time and runs well .... Until you engage the chronograph. Sometimes the chrono runs well but most of the time it stops when it reaches the 51 second mark. It always stops at exactly the same point. It will have to go back for attention and I'll get chance to drop it off either tomorrow or Friday First though I thought I'd ask for advice and, depending on the comments, search for replacement parts as needed. First issue .... I can't work out what the movement is. I know that Baume used Lemania and Valjoux movements among others but I can't see any makers marks on this one and Ranfft doesn't throw up a match. Does this look familiar to anyone? Second, do the symptoms point to some particular part or fault and third, following on from that, anyone have a donor that's surplus to requirements? Thanks all ... even if it's just for reading and sharing the pain.
Looks like a Valjoux 92. I'm sure you'll get it sorted out. http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&&2uswk&Valjoux_92
