Looking at what appears to be a nice S.C., but seller states their report from the Heritage Department reads “The original serial number 13xxxxxx identifies a stainless steel wristwatch bearing the reference 7272, part of the Sport Chief collection. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 284 and was invoiced on 21 September 1967 to the company Baume & Co., which was at that time our agent for the UK.” I thought Sport Chiefs were Sweden and Norway primarily, if not only? The seller is a British dealer/hobbyist, so the records make sense, just surprising. Thanks for any thoughts guys!
Interesting, but if confirmed by Longines I will not argue... I have never seen the earlier version with 12.68Z and 30L invoiced to anywhere else but Norway and Sweden.
Depending on how another deal goes I think I'm going for this one if I get the chance - if seller is willing to include the Heritage record. Slightly pricey, but not out of line and to me it looks like such a nicely preserved example. Not the rarest version of this watch, but aesthetically it all ties together very well, IMHO.
Interesting! You're correct that the Sports Chief model was primarily Scandinavian but one popping up somewhere else would not surprise me. The Scandinavian models can be puzzling; my 1958 Flagship from Norway is listed in their archives as a plain 30L but the dial is indisputably original.
