If you like the way it looks but just want it cleaned and lubed (with new seals and possibly a new crystal), let’s us know where you are in the world and someone can recommend a watchmaker in your region that has an omega parts account and can do a proper service to give it another 20 years.
I do like the rough look as it shows how durable the Seamaster 300 is. Yeah new seals are needed but the glass being so crazed adds to the patina but make waterproofing it impossible.
Wow, that’s a tough watch!
New Crystal and a basic service would be the only thing I would do
Hi everyone. Ive had this watch in a drawer for 20 years and was wondering if I should renew it or keep it as it is. Its one tough watch and as you can see it had a working life. Anyone got any ideas as to what to do. Apart from not being waterproof it runs fine.
Great piece 👍 , even if I think, the minute- and hour hand are relumed!
My2cents: if you change the glass, keep the original piece and do NOT! polish the case.
Where are you located?
In terms of “collectors value” a replacement crystal won’t affect it in any way and will actually improve it’s value (as long as it’s a factory crystal which is still available). I had an edge crack in my original acrylic GMT crystal (just under the bezel- barely visible) and knew it had to go if I wanted to keep it waterproof. Once it was out I realized how yellowed it had become and the new factory crystal (which was eye watering for price compared to others) brought new life to the dial. I have the original in a box and if I ever sold, I would include it.
Ive been wondering about the baton hands as it seems a little unusual to have a 68 with large triangle and date with them. Im from Australia 😀 The more I look at this old thing the more I like it.
It’s subjective but id say the line has just reached the point where I’d consider a good relume to improve the overall look.
Here’s a before and after of a different reference but with similar lume condition
