So, for those of you who DO have this caliber: did you make it to, say 10 years without servicing? As would be typical for other modern movements.

As with many new movements the Cal 8500s did have some teething issues early on, they were stopping early due to some coating on the mainspring barrels from memory but that was fixed. Ive had a few and my dad has daily worn his and abused it pretty badly without issue for 6 years. They tend to be pretty good really, as do the Cal 2500D models.

I haven't seen any 8500 of my close circle without jumping hour issues.

I had to send my AT with an 8500 movement in for service because of issues with the jumping hour hand. However, it was 9+ years old at the time, and was otherwise trouble free.

Mine lasted 6 years as a daily watch before it stopped working. Thankfully no issues with jumping hour hand

98 months from new out the door of the AD and about four months in the store for a total of 102 months. 8 years 2 months "rode hard and put away wet" much of that time. No problems yet.

have fun

I've purchased this DeVille with the 8500 new in 2012. It's still working fine today.

My 2nd gen Titanium PO which has the 8500 has had zero issues so far and still runs 1-2spd. It's one of my most accurate pieces.

Purchased new in Aug 2017, worn every minute since... until 26th Dec 2021 when I dropped in for a service.......

P/C two days ago quoted $1700 to put back into spec, requires new main spring, new barrel and some other parts. I will update once I get it back and can more closely look at what was replaced.

Kinda smarts that after 4 1/2 years I am required to spend nearly 20% of my initial outlay on it.

I am surprised the normal Omega service doesn't cover this. In US dollars this should be no more than $950 according to Omega's site.

Australia its $830 for Non-chronograph mechanical non-precious watch but the caveat is...
"Any additional components that are not included in the service cost but are necessary to restore the functionality of your timepiece will be charged extra upon your confirmation. For more details, contact an OMEGA authorized retailer or service centre"

I took it to the authorised Omega store in my state.....

Such a beautiful piece. Is it light on the wrist? (Titanium)

Be interesting to know what the other parts are. From my understanding, any parts of the movement that need wear and tear replacement are included. Crown and any pushers are usually included as well in a full service (were on my X-33). So that leaves, case, crystal, bezel and any non-wear and tear. Barrel and mainspring have been well documented to be included in the fixed base price.

I have an AT from 2015 with the 8500. No issues here knock on wood. What was the jumping hour?

Tell us what the other parts are. There shouldn’t be anything extra charged for normal wear parts, so there has to be something unusual that is being replaced.

Does the present 8900 have durabilty improvements or refinements when compared to its predecessor? (Other than Metas advantages).

My AT is from 2014 or so. Never serviced, no jumping hand issue. I'm actually timing accuracy now, and after 36 hours it 2-3 seconds ahead of atomic clock. I'm debating in my mind if I should take it in for service, or wait another year or two.

On the jumping hand, a couple years back my modern ploprof had an issue. I had it serviced by Omega 7 years ago. And 2-3 years I had an issue with setting time. Omega fixed issue free of charge.

There's nothing shown that would be outside of the ordinary replacement parts. This should have cost you what a standard service costs.

You should have received an itemized breakdown of the costs, so post that if you can.
