    Hey folks,

among all the Speedys and Rolexs (Rolexes, Rolexi, whatever the correct plural is), let’s try something cheap and cheerful here.

I got this watch initially because I wanted a simple movement to practice a disassembly and assembly, the cleaning of movement parts and so on. Thing is: The dial looks so nice in person, the movement is absolutely clean and works a treat. I can’t bring myself to potentially ruin it by ham-fistedly trying my non-existent watchmaker skills on it, so I’m passing it on.

So what the f...ormidable watch is PRÄTINA?

Mid-20ths century, it was part of the Dugena watch company, which, as far as I know, ended up being Alpina. The watches were produced in Germany and Prätina were the budget line, so to say. I don’t know the exact production era of this watch, but judging from the design I’d assume early 70s.

    The Watch

    Prätina, unknown model name
    Movement: 17 jewels manual wind
    Year: ~70s
    Case: 35mm x 40mm
    Dial: dark grey, vertically structured

    Condition

    Dial:
Very good condition, can’t spot any blemishes. Anything you might see in the pictures is on the plexi. Even the lume plots are in great shape, date disk is clean.

Case: 35x40mm C-shaped. No deeper dents, but many lighter scratches / scratched areas on the top and bottom. I tried to show that in the pictures, doesn’t look too bad in real life. I’m simply passing this one on and haven’t used a polishing cloth on it, this might be the way to have an even nicer looking example.

Crown: Shows some wear, but works well.

Crystal: Fully intact, has some minor scratches.

Movement: Works exactly like it looks: great. It has a nice finish which I really didn’t expect in a budget vintage watch like this, it’s absolutely clean. Winds up to the max smoothly, keeps time reasonably well, date flips over crisply. There is no service record, of course, but it does feel like a very, very healthy movement.

Strap: Vintage Hirsch leather racing strap. Has been worn, but it still works well and suits the watch.

Why should I trust you with 25€ out of my own pocket?

    Have a look:

I’m also happy to provide multiple positive feedback on another watch forum, as well as a verification through my eBay-account that has been standing for 18+ years, with >1800 reviews, 100% positive. Please do ask.

    Payment, Shipping & Returns

Payment is accepted via PayPal, bank transfer, Transferwise or cash in person. A coffee would be included in a personal transaction. :)

The watch is located in Germany, insured shipping is usually:

    6€ within Germany
    16€ within Europe
55€ to most parts of the non-European world

Happy to ship to wherever, get in touch and I'm sure we'll be able to figure out the details.

Happy to accept returns if I significantly misrepresented the watch or if buyer pays for shipping and offers a non-licorice sweet of their choice for emotional compensation.

    The Price

I’d like 25€ for this funny little thing.

That's a Speedmaster mk II companion - the case is eerily similar! :D

I’ve been kindly reminded by @ConElPueblo that it might be a good idea to state that this is a chromed case. My apologies, I didn’t even think about it, wasn’t my attention to not be transparent here.
