I don't know. As stated earlier, my OB had Spectre available for more than 2 years.
So wheres the rest going?? Seems like a small number for such a large market
I think 6969 is the right number and people are being too myopic about the size of this LE and here is why:
1) It is enough pieces that a good amount of Speedy fans/space exploration fans will have a chance to own the watch.
2) It dissuades those looking to make a quick buck by buying an immediately reselling. This helps point 1. This watch in my opinion is a better long term value than many of the more limited supply LEs which I explain in my next point.
3) Scarcity is relative to supply and demand. A lot of people are being short sided by focusing only on the supply side. While 6969 is a lot for a LE this will attract the marginal buyer way more than a #SpeedyTuesday, Ultraman, Hoodinkee, etc edition. A 50th anniversary piece has staying power as it is the most significant anniversary until 100th. So when marginal collectors transition to enthusiasts over the next 50 years a 50th anniversary LE is a much more logical addition to a growing collection over something more obscure. Therefore I think this will be a much better long term value as the demand side will be larger and will continue to grow relative to the supply side and the supply/demand dynamics of other LEs.
Just my opinion though....
There is an important distinction to make here
Sell out means all the units have been allocated globally and put on order. They sell them to their boutiques and ADs
ADs and OB put in an order based on their wait lists and order a number based on these lists with their best guess projected fall out.
Spectre was very popular as bond watches go. But despite the allocation being decided within the first year, they took several years to sell onto the public and in the end they were discounted by 15-25% by some outlets.
Considering that bond watch was very popular and a decent price, you also have to consider that the seamaster line attracts about 35% more interest than the speedmaster line. That’s based on a mix of used and searches online as it is hard fo get any facts on unit sales, they aren’t published. So with the assumption of everything being equal In the sales funnel the SM line is more popular.
It all leads me to still believe it may take a few years to shift these and discounts maybe be on the cards in a couple of years.
Sold on allocation and sold with warranty card stamped or definitely different.

It’s entirely possible. Not from the OB, but if ad’s have stock languishing then they will likely do the usual 10% or so.
I have deposit with my AD for that reason. I can hopefully get 10 and enjoy (I bet I get at least 5 as a regular). I’m on the list at an OB but will only do so if I need to.
