The watch has a lot of potential.

I think your term ‘illuminum’ is one of the best words I’ve ever heard on this forum. Much more fun than ‘lume.’

It looks like a very nice, original example. The correct insert will be $20-40k, a seller was asking $60k for a red triangle last week.

If you got the hands sorted with radium and put a nice MK2 long 5 insert on it, which will cost $3-4K USD, I think you could get $30-40k.

As is, it could bring $25k USD.

Yes inherited it from grandfather it’s been kept safe in a drawer for 40+ years hence it’s outstanding condition

Like some mention go to the Rolex forum or maybe just contact Rolex service center ?

Dont send it to Rolex, they will take away the character the watch has. Id send it to someone who is authorized to work on Rolex and have them restore the watch with original parts.

Much for the info and advice - rather refreshing we have had a lot of people trying it on with the price - but your estimate of £25k is actually a good estimate as that’s the kind of offers we have been receiving.
