I wandered into a local vintage shop and made an impulse buy today. They had a 6117-6419 non-resist priced a good bit below what the market for these seems to be.

I'm still a newbie and undoubtedly should have done more research, but the bracelet fit me perfectly and they also made me a deal for some uranium glass I was buying (another hobby of mine).

After I got home I realized that the gmt hand is off by an hour (when hour hand is at 12, gmt hand is at 11). But, that appears to be the only issue I can spot.

I was curious if anyone sees any immediate issues with it? Or, is my foray into entry-level vintage Seiko off to an ok start?

Nice catch! these Navigators are finally getting the attention they deserve as they wear nicely and have super cool dials. I had the same as you pictured a few years ago and foolishly traded it off.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'll have to finally find a watchmaker to fix the gmt hand position and service it at some point, but hopefully that's the worst of it.

I guess fate has spoken: 2023 is vintage Seiko hunting year for me. Now, I'm off to continue looking longingly at 6105-8000s. Let me know if any wash up somewhere in the Philippines ;)

You didn't mention what you paid, but that's definitely a fantastic find. Well done!

$400! So, not a fantastic, screaming deal, but cheap enough that I lost my willpower. It's funny how an unexpected find in a vintage store does that to you - if it was in the OF sales forum, I'd probably think it over for a couple of days at least.

I don't know much about these but it looks like a fun watch with a cool bracelet. They really went to town with that 'o' in Navigator.

Care to say more about the uranium glass?

A couple of weeks ago we realized that everyone in the family has stuff that glows - I've got lumed watches, my son and I have glow-in-the-dark toys and collectibles, my wife has some uranium glass, and I'd also like to pick some fluorescent minerals since our son's into minerals and fossils as well. So, we started clearing out a shelf and I ordered a UV light so that things can live together and create an eery ambiance to scare away unwelcome guests. I'll see I can post a pic this evening when it's dark enough.

If you find one in the wild you buy it whether you want it or not. Always. With that bracelet that's a great price.

    Sounds about right:
ME: "I found this in the wild. I have to buy it."
WIFE: "Just because you found it doesn't mean you have to buy it."
    ....
ME: "You know, in some ways you and I are very different people."
