I have the Speedmaster and love the case to death. How could they produce such a horrible, over-modern bracelet and clasp after having done such a great job on the rest???
I agree it is not easy. You need to keep pressing down on the top of the end link with your thumb as you release both spring bar ends, not enough pressure and at least one pops back in. Nowhere near as easy as a Moonwatch........

On the contrary, I see nothing wrong on the clasp and the bracelet. I think Omega did right on this reissue.

Doing a bit of traveling this week and stopped by the local AD for a look. They had both the 60th Speedmaster and Railmaster in stock. I am sorely tempted by the Speedmaster, even the Railmaster. They are quite beautiful in person. Up until today, I'd only seen pictures.

...I just hope Rolex will someday re-release the 5508...
For a moment there I tried to imagine the waiting list for such a piece...
I am quite surprised that these watches have not been sold out yet. While one could easily find reasons for this (too many LEs, too many new releases at Omega and elsewhere, too broad edition - c.4,000 of each rail, sea and speedmasters including the sets...), I am still surprised, at least for the speedmaster and the seamaster. They are, at least for me, the watches I have always dreamt about : beautiful and iconic designs, perfect size, easy to wear everywhere as tool watches (at least for the seamaster) and affordable compared to their vintage twins. Now I just hope Rolex will someday re-release the 5508 and I'll be 100% satisfied! When it comes the railmaster, I was a bit skeptical until I wore it. It is fantastic as well : simple and elegant case, a superb dial that goes from brown under electric light to deep black or grey. Just for the record, I own the 3 in separate sets (I did not like to writing on the dial).
When I first saw the Speedmaster sitting there in the case, my first thought was to jump on it. I decided to wait and check the forums for some indication of the current market value. There are watches for sale, and some a bit less than "sticker." It gave me enough pause to wait awhile and if I still have the urge, I'll get one on the secondary market.
I agree; too many LE's and 4000 copies is really not all that limited.
Thanks for your post,
Bob
Wow, 4000 copies now?
Yes. 3,557 + 557 sets = 4,114
You are grouping the box sets with the individual pieces. They are not the same. Each watch in the box set is numbered with identical limited edition numbers on the watch face unlike the others. Omega clearly makes that distinction.
I do not understand the need to constantly try to devalue these watches by anyone.
