I’m asking because my local OB didn’t mention deposits when we discussed the trilogy.

Anyone out there who paid a deposit at an OB?

I wasn't sure how I wanted to spend my money back in the late Spring/early Summer. I was considering multiple pieces from multiple brands at the time. Then as it sounded like the Speedys were going to be all spoken for I decided to see if I could get one. Called the closest OB and they needed a deposit amounting to about 30%. So I did it. Not a word since. That said I'm in no hurry so long as I get one.

As far as I know an OB does not ask for a deposit, at least not in Europe, certainly not in Germany.
Wrong :whipped:
I paid 30% deposit for my two Speedies in the OB Paris. So far no news...

I think the majority of OBs here in the U.S. required a full price deposit except from some who were regular customers. My OB wanted a 100% deposit up front so I went instead to an AD who did not require any deposit. I offered to put some money down as a show of good faith, but they declined. The AD has assured me multiple times that they have a valid order in with Omega, but I won't rest easy until I receive the call from them and have the watch in hand.

While I wasn't full priced, the deposit was enough that I knew I was serious about it 😁

There seems to be no pattern here. An OB wanted a small deposit from me. A TB wanted 100% deposit, and another TB said no deposit needed, but 20% would increase chances of getting one of the earlier allocations, whatever that means..

That is the reason why I had asked if someone had to pay an OB, not an AD, a deposit. As far as I know an OB does not ask for a deposit, at least not in Europe, certainly not in Germany. If this is so, then there is no reason for Omega to deliver the watches in a defined order.

No deposits needed in Germany for sure. Not at the OB neither at ADs

"Not a word since" <- youve made a point
Thats the main problem happening with this puchase experience. Likewise Im not in a hurry whatsoever and I dont mind to put in any deposit. But the way they handle pre-orders is such a disappointment. I called OB and they have no clues AT ALL. Makes it feel like a scam they took the deposit and fled lolz

I haven't ordered any of the 60th watches so I don't have a dog in this particular fight, but I've been watching this thread (and the other ones) as an interested observer. It's an absolute disgrace. I have no insider knowledge of how these "production lines" (for want of a better term) operate, but I have a mental image of some Swiss chaps sitting around over their morning coffee and thinking "Shall we make a couple of Speedies today, or shall we just go round the corner for some fondue?". I really feel for the good folks on here who have now been waiting for 9 months and can't even get any concrete information through official channels. I imagine a lot of people are losing interest through sheer frustration. Omega have made a serious PR fυck up on this.

I agree that Omega has messed this whole thing up...I saw the rail master for the first time today and I was underwhelmed. Maybe the way they managed this made me negative, but I am edging towards not buying any of these now.

I don't see what the uproar is about. I can see how they might have handled this differently, which I'll note below, but so long as you get your watch in a reasonable time frame I don't think it should be a big issue. Of course you should be able to contact the OB you put money down at and get a concrete answer as to your watch even if that answer is "it hasn't been started yet." The situation with Daytonas or say a Nautilus seems far worse though so again I think some of the complaints are a bit much.

I think Omega should have done the following:

-produced all the watches, or the vast majority of them, before the Baselworld announcement.
-made only 1957 of each model and say 57 sets.
-made people pay the same amount up front whether that's 25% or maybe 50%
-made people pay up front for the Speedy Tuesday

Has anyone tried to open the watch to see the mouvement? I'm curious to know if Omega stuffed the very basic one or a properly decorated version... you know for 7k!

I was very late getting a deposit in (Oct ). How far down the road will they be still delivering these?

Don't worry, it's completely random... I was in the first one to pay the deposit and still no clue on mine
