Yes, it it the 55x that I admire. I happily stand corrected.

I am neither starting a bun fight, or baiting or trolling. I have a large knowledge base in other areas and try and help on other online forums with users that are new top that topic.
I too get frustrated when I answer the same question time after time, but I try and remember that even though it is the 50th time that I have answered that question, it is usually the first time that the other person has asked it.
I get that noobs are sometimes irritating but the very fact they ask the same stuff 'over and over and over'. But to be told to 'suck it up buttercup' is rude, unhelpful and shows ignorance.
Like I said, i care not for lackingfocus, and it is perfectly OK for me to react to his/her rude comment.
Regardless you need to take it down a couple of notches. Calling people arseholes and pricks does not help your case.

Some posters believe that a high post count and previous contributions to the site provides a carte blanche for being rude, sadly.

@ConElPueblo - you are COMPLETELY wrong.

I don't believe that I have carte blanche for being rude because I have a high post count nor because I have made many contributions over the years.

I do believe that this member is too sensitive to negative commentary even though he himself asked for opinions. If he's so easily ruffled, maybe he shouldn't post on the internet. Secondly, "suck it up buttercup" is mild and mostly a joke. If you want to see somebody REALLY get rude, there are MUCH more harsh phrases uttered every day on forums all over the world.

@oscargamer - be careful what you ask for because you WILL get it. If you can't handle the potential answers, don't ask the question. After all you did say:

Would welcome any and all comments.

So did you really mean that you'd only welcome comments that agree with you and don't offend your delicate sensibilities? 🙄

@oscargamer I am sorry you did not like my comment but I do not apologise for making it. What sort of response did you realistically expect? If you post a watch that even as a beginner you can see has several obvious red flags, what is the point of asking for comments on it? It's a crap watch and that's all there is to say about it. It seems to be a thing with many newcomers that they'll link to a watch they like, people will helpfully point out what's wrong with it but they keep on coming back with, yes I see what you mean but couldn't it be put right? as if they're fixated and just can't move on from it. It's almost as if you've skipped stage 1 and gone straight to stage 2. It just seemed odd that you should want to know more about this undesirable watch whilst in the next breath denying that you like it. Anyway I won't comment further beyond saying that there are plenty of nice watches of this type and you'll undoubtedly find one if you stay on here, pay attention and bide your time carefully. Good luck with your search.

Why does this so often happen on here? Novice collector posts a watch saying X looks off, Y looks distinctly dodgy and Z looks very dodgy indeed. But I like the look of it so will you guys help me come up with a reason to buy this pile of shit?

Just a comment on the amount of similar threads like this we get. Nothing personal to you

I don't like the look of it I'm not looking for reasons to buy it I am new and still trying to learn what are good and bad things to look for and how to weigh up the pros and cons. But thanks for being so judgemental.

Thanks to those that have added value to my request for info.

A reaction by you thinking it was personal

Suck it up buttercup. You’re on the internet so buy some thicker skin.

A piece of advice from a member that has helped thousands of members of multiple forums with probably 50,000 posts that he himself has been trolled many a time whilst trying to help

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes you have to take the good, the bad and the ugly if you ask a open Question without enough information (that you have filled in a bit with more posts)

I myself tried to help because I had time and was not doing much. Other times I may have written "run - run away quickly" to tthe same ( which I have ) if I had less time.

The biggest misconception is the information is not already out there. I have to ask. But it is there and there in spades ( and so much I have learnt from Ulackfocus in posts on WUS that he wrote 10 years ago before I even knew him here and before This Forum existed )
I still come across several members (on here) old information when I search for current knowledge

I myself may have to research for a few minutes to answer a question many a time
(When the person asking the question didn't )

My best advice to anyone who wants to save money and learn.
Read books and old posts - Don't just look at watches
(do that once knowledge has been gained)

And a 551 in a Constellation bought for $750 that happily lives in Darwin now that was bought after several months searching for the right watch

Just to balance the thread out a bit.

It took a couple days, but I finally remembered that this thread is nowhere near the first time I've told a forum member to "suck it up buttercup".

Here's the last time I used it on Omega Forums, and the member not only took it in stride but joked about it in return:

https://omegaforums.net/threads/observations-and-adventures-with-the-moonwatch-only-book.33415/

We regularly use it on another forum without anyone getting their feathers ruffled:

https://www.cellartracker.com/forum/tm.asp?m=32241&mpage=1233&key=buttercup&#439128

https://www.cellartracker.com/forum/tm.asp?m=32241&mpage=1026&key=buttercup&#388553

The only thing I wonder about is how old our OP is. If he's under 40, that would explain a lot. Sorry oscargamer, but we don't give new members a participation trophy for starting a thread.
