·Good afternoon forum.
The sun is shining today, on the south coast of the UK and It's a lovely day.
I thought it would be nice to get my Dad's old 105.012-65 out of it's red Omega service pouch and give that lovely 321 a wind.
Just to see if it's still keeping good time.
(For those of you know who don't know),
We've had this, pre-moon, Omega Speedmaster, in the family, for over 50 years now. It was delivered to Gibraltar in 1967, but I'm pretty sure my Dad got it, in London, in the late 1960's.
It did originally have a flat link bracelet. I remember seeing it lying around in my Mum's kitchen draw for years. It was broken, so I think she probably just threw it away, at some point. She did tell me that she threw away the red Omega box, so I assume the broken Omega, flat link bracelet went in the bin as well. Nice one Mum!
This old photograph of my Dad wearing it (on its 1171/633 service bracelet taken in the late 1970's or early 1980's) clearly shows that the dial was not brown, early in its life.
Although, I'm pretty sure it's always been brown in the 20 years that I've owned the watch.
It's not a classic "Galaxy Chocolate" brown dial, but the changes in the colour of the dial still fascinate me, whenever the light hits it.
I took these 4 photographs within a few minutes of each other, in the same room, just using my mobile telephone.
The only difference was the angle that the sunlight, coming in through the window, hit the brown dial.
