Just wanna share my latest snatch, only 10 minutes after i saw the post on facebook for a local group, I drove there in 10 minutes and snatched it just before others showing up. Guess my luck with Speedmaster is still there, not like Rolex.

So it is 145.022-69 with 30x serie so no DON, everything appears original except the hands maybe since I didnt pay much attention. Stepped dial looks very nice with no blemishes or lume loss. Case I cant comment looks ok to me. The crystal is original as well with thin logo etched.

It comes with a nice full link 1039/516 with no stretches at all.

Not bad for a price not even half of a modern Speedie 馃槑

Wow. Good catch indeed. Looks in a really nice nick and is in the right serial range to carry a 220-bezel.

Also, just the bracelet and endlinks are worth half a modern Speedy in this condition.

Giving it a second look; I guess the chrono hand is not original to the watch as it is a drop ended one. It suits it well, though.

Lucky you!

Very nice catch!

How long did the glow of the lume last after you exposed the watch to a stark light source?
Do you have access to an UV light?

There are a couple of threads here on the topic. Bust answer I鈥檝e been able to find is this from @speedy4ever:

More important is to consider the production date. Of the several hundreds 145.022-69 we have in our database, the relationship between production date and bezel type is rather clear:
- DON (type B1) until September/October 1970
- 220 (type B2bis) from end August 1970 to end December 1970 (possibly until January 1971 with new data we had, still to be verified)
- type B2 from November 1970

The early bird gets the worm again! My gut instincts have by far been more rewarding than over analyzing a watch to death! Sometimes it鈥檚 a fine balancing act, but that鈥檚 how I got my first Ed White 18 years ago. Back then most people/dealers didn鈥檛 differentiate one Speedmaster from another. It鈥檚 a whole new world now!
