I previously owned a 1873 lemania based Heuer and I could hear the movement ticking when I had my chin resting on my wrist. Is the 1861 just as audible (similar movement and 50atm WR) and how about the newer 3861 co-axial movement? I usually wear my watches through the night in bed too, so prefer a quiet movement. By comparison my Seiko is near silent whilst the quiet ticking/chime of Rolex is audible to me.
I usually wear a watch to bed so I can check the time if I awaken in the dark (which I often do). With my Rolex or either of my Seamasters, I can hear clearly the ticking of the movement even through the thickness of the pillow. But my Speedmaster is silent unless I hold it right up to my ear.
That seems to depend on the case construction a lot. The 3861 in the Snoopy can be noticeably heard, the ST1 with 1861 is very similar. The Tokyo Speedmasters however are almost silent altough they have the same movement. My loudest one is the Apollo 8 with the ceramic case.
