One Q - is the movement in this model Moonshine gold? I thought that was only for the full-gold 50th model, no?

Looking at the Omega web site, it shows the rhodium version for this watch.

There is zero evidence to suggest that one or the other will be called "3861M" in any official Omega documentation. I'm going to suggest it's not the Extranet that is misleading here.

Thanks for the detailed and informative post! So for a relative newbie who is finally ready to splash out on a Moonwatch and based solely on movement considerations, would you recommend that I pick up the current 311.30.42.30.01.005 with the 1861 or wait a revised model with a 3861?

Lots of highly technical information that goes completely over my head. Similar to the technical information on the new mid-engine Corvette that I recently read...all very nice, but here's what I got out of it; 490 horse power and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. Barrels, co-axial, escapement, jigawatts, flux-capacitor...does the watch keep good time? That's all I need to know. 👍

Surely 'msg' = Moonshine Gold? 'O' I would guess designated 'oro' or Sigma. Makes sense to use the shorter term in technical papers, etc.

Sometimes it can be better to use Google using site😲megaforums.net to limit the search.

Indeed, the normal, assumption for MSG would be MoonShine(TM) Gold... but this comes from an English version of marketing tool, so it may not represent the official name as per Omega’s part number list... as indicated by Al.
O would stand for Or (French word for gold)… just like OM on the dial of the original 1970 BA145.022 (OM SWISS MADE OM) stood for Or Massif (ie, solid gold)... which on the 50th anniversary version could be equated to Or MoonShine(TM)… Et la boucle, est bouclée!! 😁
