·In my limited exploration of 321 Seamasters, I’ve never seen a 321 dial with the notorious coat hanger “S” that appears on some late 50’s to early 60’s three-handed Seamaster dials. All of the 321 ones I’ve seen have the rounded bottom “S” like this one from the early 60’s.
I recently ran across this dial. From my in-hand examination, it appears to be a legitimate, period dial dating to the early 60’s. (See the shape of the “4” in the running seconds subdial)
Given the style of the hours markers, maybe it’s a service dial from the mid 60’s?
So, thoughts? Am I missing something? Anybody have a 321 Seamaster with a coat hanger “S” dial?
Tell me that they are not unusual and everybody’s seen them....
