Actually that just blocks one of the forks. It's still drawing current.

The Accutron II watches with the Precisionist movement, pulling the crown actually does stop most of the electronics.

In Omega 1250 movement, pulling the crown out does cut off the power from the battery. As seen in the attached page from the 1250 tech manual, the part labeled 8 is the switch (Omega calls it interrupter). When the crown is pulled to the second position, the switch is actuated and the power is cut off from the battery cell.
