Looks to be a 0, i usually go crazy with the levers on the iphone picture app in order to enhance whatever there’s in the picture to clean up the details. Why it’s not perfectly round might be due to reflections of light, that you also can see here in my edited picture.

But for the avoidance of any doubt, please ask for a new picture, as there still could be a chance of it being a bad stamped 6.

Anyhow if it's a 0 or a 6 it cannot be a 2998-61 I am afraid, if it's a 9 that's another discussion but it does not look like it all...

Here are few other examples of 9
I took this picture as it could represent the same bad picture conditions

Another 9 but with a decent pic

And an example of a 0 and 6

I will put a beer on the 0 as I am a 🤬 gambler ::facepalm1::

Gentlemen, thank you for your feedback, its highly appreciated! 😀

After reviewing the serial number the owner confirmed that the number starts with 1804

As requested here is a picture of the watch:

I privately discussed it with an experienced member here on the forum before I got the serial number.

We both came to the conclusion that it is in very good, original condition.

Any estimates how much the wrong serial number reduces the value of the watch?

Thank you again,

Cheers

Well it depends how much you would value a put-together watch 😀

Without joking, it's possible the caseback and the hands have been replaced during a service literally

So... who's paying the beer now? 😁::rimshot::
