Yes. Some truly amazing black dials 2852. The big problem with these (and this is the difference with buying for example a SM300 165024) is they show up so rarely that time and budget need to come together. Buying a 165024 takes planning, getting budget together but then it's possible- because of the volume of the 300's - to buy a nice one. But these connies are so rare that they show up suddenly and if you dont have 2/3k (+) lying around all the time - like me - somebody else snatch it up in front of you. I cant remember seeing a perfect one like some of the above.

This is one of those watches where you bid without any movement or inside caseback photos. 90% of the value of this watch lies with the dial.

100% agree, movement can be found in so many other cheap models...

Would you tell me some cheap models that host 501/505 chronometers?

Hows about the availability of the white dial 2852? Nice ones pop up frequently?

Indeed. Hunting these is a rich man's sport by now.

A few years ago, I spotted a gorgeous two-tone rose gold capped 2852 with a black dial offered on eBay from the prolific seller in Mexico City. It was perfect other than the 503 bridge. I contacted the seller, and a day later, the bridge had been swapped out.

😉

Personally, I wouldn't buy any watch without movement and inner caseback pics unless I knew (and trusted!) the seller.

Cordially,

Art

2989's. Not cheap, maybe, but usually found for less than Connie references.

When they're found, that is.

Very bad advice! Cost me $1100 to buy one with things need to work on 🙁

Well, it was still less than comparable Connies, right?

;-)

Hands are a bit long but a good project for the winter. Do you have the correct hands?
Thanks for your advice 👍.

Sorry, Hoi, don't have any parts laying around for one of these. Your best bet is to find a trash dial 2984 for hands and a crown.

I (actually, my watchmaker!) restored this 2846 . . .

. . . acquired last spring on eBay. Price of admission was low, but the crown and seconds hand were incorrect.

The clover crown in the pic was the last piece Ofrei had in stock. And the seconds hand came from a 501 movement and dial scrounged on eBay.

Those parts alone cost almost as much as the watch itself.

🙁
