2500 Planet Ocean - service?

I just bought a 42mm 2500 PO black bezel from a friend. The watch is in great condition - only the usual very light desk swirls on the clasp. No dents or deep marks. Looking very careful in bright light there are some light scratches in the AR, but again you need to look very hard to see them. I meassured the time keeping - it loses around 7 sec/24h. Should be sent in for service I guess? No information about previous service and the certificate is stamped in 2007. What should I ask Omega to do? I would like rhe watch to be as new as possible - no emotional attachments (yet) 😀

I wouldn’t service it, personally.

7 seconds is so little, I’d try and just give the watch a wind to give the spring a little more life.

I’d get the full service. Fresh start for a new home. It will be like new and up to you to put your own marks and build it’s history.

Winding the spring a little more isn't going to help...if the watch has no service history since 2007, it's well overdue for a service.

Cheers, Al

I think he’s added the ‘no service history’ in the edit.

Seeing that now, I’d obviously service it.

Thank you all. I think I will have it serviced and restored to as new condition. The biggest issue is that it will be away for a couple of weeks... 😀

That's optimistic. My experience with Omega service is 6 weeks, but the do a great job.

I recently serviced my 45.5mm 2500 PO and it came back looking better than new. They swapped out the second hand for a new one and good lord was it ever bright and lovely looking.

All in it took about 4 weeks and is running like a champ.
