23.4 interchangeability of parts among calibres…

Hello all,
The general nature of my question will highlight my ignorance, but I’m keen to learn, so here’s the question anyway.
I’m a newbie, but have a growing collection of vintage omegas.
I have one which was sold to me as a 30T2 and it will need to go to my watchmaker for repairs: the balance spring has come out of the regulator pins and while I was looking around, I noticed also that somewhere in the life of the watch, the head has been twisted off the balance spring stud screw. Anyway, this has got me thinking about parts, because I love this watch and want to keep it ticking longer than I do.

The watch serial number dates it to between 1935 and 1937, I believe. The calibre inscription underneath the balance is 23.4 SC

Parts specific to the 23.4 calibre are rare, it would seem from my preliminary explorations, but those for other calibres including 260 are much more common. So, to what degree are the parts interchangeable in this family of calibers. If, just as an example, I needed a balance cock for the 23.4, would a 260 calibre part be a workable alternative?

Here’s a photo:

Any information gratefully received,

Thanks,
John

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news: cal. 260 can´t be used as a parts donor as it is out of a different movement family.
Your movement is a 23.4 SC as you have read below the balance, so it can´t be a cal 30 T2, so not interchangeable.

BTW the title of your post is a bit misleading - you don´t need interchangeable parts for a cal 260 but interchangeable parts for cal 23.4 SC

Yeah, if you looked at them side-by-side, it would be immediately obvious that a cal 23.4 and a cal 30T2 are from totally different families. The size difference alone is dramatic.

Don't know which parts you specifically need, but the list I have says the balance cock is 220.1006 and the pallet cock is 220.1005. PM me an email address and I will send you the PDF I have.

So, to what degree are the parts interchangeable in this family of calibers.

Note in the same family as noted, and I've checked - there are zero parts that are compatible between this and a Cal. 260.

Thanks everyone for your replies - very helpful. Yes, I’m sorry, the title of the post is a little misleading - I realised that after I’d posted it. The hunt will be for parts compatible with the 23.4SC. I live in a regional area of Australia but lucky to have an experienced watchmaker in our community. He’s an older fellow who in the past has made me replacement parts, but sometimes I’ve helped out by tracking down spares online. I’m hoping he will be able to rescue this watch. Thanks again.

Your best chance is to find another donor watch with a working mvmt. If you like hunting worldwide, contact eBay sellers in Portugal and Spain. You have to find them yourself. Portugal has plenty old omega parts..... There is a very slim chance in Australia. Contact Joe Santos from Christina Jewellery in Newtown/Petersham. He is the one here. Good luck. Achim

Thanks Achim! SkunkPrince has kindly sent me the parts list for the 23.4SC, so my task is now much easier. I’ve started hunting on eBay - thanks for the tips. Yes, parts locally are rare as hen’s teeth but I enjoy the challenge of the hunting process.
I also have a watch with a 30T2 SC movement (old RAF watch from the UK) and I’ll be looking for parts for that too, so I’ll be busy.
Cheers! John.

Archer: I see what you mean. I took the back off another 30TC SC I have here and compared it with the 23.4SC - should’ve done that before I posted here - the differences are very obvious!
