2255.80 “Electric Blue” vs SMPc Mid-size, Which one should I Keep?

Sorry I binned my original comment along the lines of that I don't link black and blue on the same dial so this now looks confusing I know. Its rather a shame there isn't a date wheel matching the blue dial SMPs out there but for some reason there isn't it seems. I suppose matching the electric blue would be tricky as a lot of the look is in the shine contrast of the waves and those wouldn't be on the wheel presumably.
I understand where you’re coming from. I had a chronograph done but the blue is a bit darker. Well I liked it anyway.

Only thing I’d consider is perhaps fitting a reversed date wheel. White numbers on a black background would look less intrusive.
I'm not too bothered by the white date wheel, at a glance it blends in as the color is close to the white indices. The SMPc has a black date wheel. And I feel between the EB and the mid-size SMPc, the EB is more like a tool watch, and SMPc feels more refined and luxury. Noe the EB is even more "tooly" with the little scuffed up blue bezel, I hate to say it but it has sort of a beater vibe.... So I don't feel the need for further fine-tuning at this point.

Wife said keeping both is not an option. So the struggle continues... so this thread now becomes a WRUW thread basically. 😁

I had the electric blue and never really loved it, I think due to the bezel. Another factor was the "bond" bracelet that was on my EB - I would have liked it better with the "speedy" bracelet. Being a man with similar sized wrists (6 inches) I personally think the 42 is pushing it but still works. I love how Omega's bracelets have enough links to take out to fit wrists like ours and have the clasp centered. For my 5 digit submariner I needed to have a permanent link removed..

Anyhow, I ended up selling it (the EB) when I got a 2254.50. I liked (and still like) the black one much much better than the blue. If it were me, I would sell both and get a 2254.50 and an Omega mesh to swap on and off and call it a day. Alternatively, you could go the modding route and pick up a blue bezel and slap it on, I think that looks good as well, although not technically kosher.
The midsize looks too small to me, and I am a guy who generally prefers smaller watches. Some pics:

Thanks for sharing your experience! The 2254.50 is on my acquiring list and I will get one soon.

At this point I think between the midsize and the EB I'm leaning towards the midsize, reasons are:
1. I feel more connection to the midsize, as if it is a forgotten child that no one loves, but happen to fit my wrist. I can see everyone just love the EB more, that make it less special for me.
2. Size wize, I used to envy those with a big wrist that can hold a Seiko MM300. For a long time I really like that but I know it will look ridiculous on my wrist. I think the visual effect of the MM300 on a 8' wrist is similar to that of the midsize on my wrist. The notion that the size connect more to the old-fashion trends actually is more appealing to me than the notion that it is too small in today's view.
3. EB is nice, robust, has an incredible dial. But the look of it is just not as nice. It feels flat, which adds to the comfort on the good side, but not good aesthetically. The dial is shallower, the painted hour markers and Omega logo lack the 3D effect, the hands are plain, long and pressed really close to the dial. Overall it just lacks the craftsmanship and luxury feeling.

I'll see what I feel about the 2254.50. I'm also looking at the 37.5mm Planet Ocean, and may acquire one if I find a good deal.

Am rather partial to one myself. The sharp eyed will notice that this one’s quartz which some including myself are a bit sniffy about but it makes great grab and go piece. ie one to travel with or wear to the pub:

Nice strap! Care sharing its origin?

It’s OEM Omega. Picture of part number is below. its basically a blue and yellow stitched sailcloth rather like the Silver snoopy strap. I think it may have been fitted originally to a Bond LE Aqua Terra of some kind.
