2254 has no practical reserve

My 2007 2254 was serviced for the first time last year. One of the issues was lack of any meaningful reserve - it might stretch to 24 hours (ok, I know that is, technically, a reserve, but you know what I mean).
Post service the watch competes with my Speedmaster & DJ41 so I don't expect it to be running all the time but this week I wound it fully (I think), set & wore it all day until midnight on the 23rd of March. Yesterday I wore the DJ41. Picked up the 2254 this morning & it had stopped just after 1212 on the 24th of March.
Therefore the reserve is about 12 hours, from midnight on the 23rd /24th to just after midday on the 24th.
I have wound it fully this morning and set it with the intention of seeing how long it runs for.
Assuming I wound it fully on the 23rd, how long should it last? I would have expected about 1500 on the 25th (today), around 40 hours.
Occam's razor suggests that I did not wind it fully, failing that as an explanation, are there other issues I ought to look for?
Thanks

Should last for circa 2 days when fully wound (ie nearly 48 hours), that is wound for over 60 half turns. If you had wound it properly then the Occam's razor answer is that it wasn't properly serviced after all. Perhaps the mainspring wasn't replaced. There can be issues with the 1120 auto winding system, the reverser I think, but that is not the issue here if you are hand winding it. Try again with 60+ turns, if it still shows a defect then speak with your watchmaker. You can't over wind an auto.

Thanks Padders, looks like old man Occam knew a thing or two. I thought 40 turns was about right, no wonder it ran out. Today I wound it for longer than that I think so we'll see what happens today.. If it's still inconclusive I'll give it a go using 60+ turns.
Thanks again.

I regularly get 50 hours from a freshly serviced Cal. 1120.

When you wind the watch if you hold it to your ear, you will likely be able to hear an "extra" clicking sound when it's fully wound. It's different than the normal winding sound, and more intermittent - this is the mainspring slipping in the barrel and catching in the notches on the inner barrel wall. Listening for it is the best way to know if the watch is fully wound.

Cheers, Al

Thanks Al. When winding this morning there was a clicking noise every couple of turns or so. Hopefully that means it's fully wound & we'll see what happens.

Still running at 0800 on 27MAR20. Starting to look like I hadn't wound it sufficiently at first. I wound it fully (I think, based on @Archer's post) at 0945 on the 25th, so it's heading towards 48 hours, I reckon it's doing well.

48 hours achieved at 0947 this morning! I reckon that probably means that the winder was faulty...

I wore it all day yesterday, took it off at midnight & picked it up this morning to find it had stopped at 0650. Grr...

Assuming you are active enough to have charged it, sounds like the spring is doing it’s job but not the auto winding system. If you are self isolating on the sofa reading or watching tv then maybe that isn’t the best test environment though.

Have you been watching me?
It's a fair cop guv, I'm currently working from home & not as active as I might otherwise be (technically I'm "vulnerable" due to meds I take, so I try to limit how often I go out). The auto-wind is probably not getting enough input.
