Picked up a 2220.80.00 pre owned from a reputable pre owned service here in the U.K.

has been stopping randomly over the last 4 days. I hadn’t realised I needed to wind this watch. Anyway I’ve been winding it. But it still stops. I’m a very active person - I walk around a lot.

how do I know when I’ve wound this to the max ? The watch distributor does all the necessary pre sale diagnostics etc. like I said they are extremely reputable.

either the watch is problematic or I just need to give the watch time to catch up. Could have been sitting in a box for years for all I know. It’s basically brand new looking. Was purchased in 2009, and is a 2008 model.

Any advice for 2220.80.00 owners appreciated. Do you win it every morning? How many turns? Does it let you know when fully wound? Thanks

The watch is overdue for servicing by now so that would be the starting point. If it doesn’t meet specification after service then it should go back to the watchmaker for corrective work. A freshly serviced watch from an Omega certified watchmaker or service center should meet original specifications when it is returned.

If that’s the case it should be covered by warranty still from the service and you can take it back to be sorted out

How exactly do you know it was serviced in July 2022? By whom exactly? Have you got written proof? If so as suggested above, get it sorted under the warranty, if not, then you may have been misled since that is not how a healthy recently serviced watch behaves.

They were finicky back in the day and if it wasn't serviced properly the last time it sounds like it's displaying that very same behaviour they were known for.
That's one of the main reasons Omega moved on from those movements after the 2500D and produced their very own design movements.
having said that the 2500D was supposed to be a big leap forward in their attempt to make the Co-axial work better in slowing the beat rate down slightly and making the lube requirements less finicky.
Unless it was serviced properly by Omega or someone trained to deal with it you may be better to bite the bullet and send it of to Omega?

Thanks all. Going to return it to Watches of Switzerland here in the U.K. They say it was serviced in 2022. Think all will be well. It’s the second hand just suddenly coming to a halt after a while. Will get them to fix it

Very true. Went Watches of Switzerland today and they’ve asked me to send it back

If your watch is indeed from 2008-9 then you have a version C. Version D was seen ~2010 on and in the watches that had both like the PO, the date wheel font is a reliable easy tell. I am much less pessimistic towards these than the post above by Duckie. In fact by version C there were very few issues left. I have owned several and never had an issue out the ordinary. The C also AFAIK has the lower beat rate he/she mentions.

The C's were in short not all the finicky back in the day at all, though the earlier versions certainly were.

Took it to the dealer. They said they’ll monitor for a week in-house before deciding in sending it to Omega which can take 12 weeks.

Even funnier I went it and took it out the pouch. Watch technician said the time was wrong on it. No shit Sherlock, I’m wearing a different watch on my wrist and I’ve brought this to you in a pouch… 🤦

They monitored it for 3 days, said I was right - it’s losing 20 mins and the seconds hand stopped. They were apologetic and told me 4 weeks to repair plus another 6 if they need to send back to omega. They said take a full refund and apologised profusely. Very annoying I don’t expect this from a reputable certified company like Mappin and Webb. Why sell something pre owned claiming all checks and balances done and they’re not. Now the hunt continues for another 2220.80.00…
