2254 Bezel fit problem on 2231

So I’ve ran into a problem. I’ve got a Titanium 2231 in which I messed up the bezel due to my poor method of using the bezel removal tool. It bent the underside of the bezel slightly making it unable to turn and fully be seated.

I’ve read and always been under the impression that the 2254 bezel would fit the 2231. So I ordered one since I’ve be wanting the black bezel anyway.

I received the bezel today and installed the bezel. While the bezel fits and is seated securely it doesn’t actually turn. It initially turns maybe 3 clicks and then stops. I also replaced the bezel click spring as well. I only attempted reinstall once and have left it as is so I don’t damage this bezel as well.

Any ideas what the issue is? Or does the 2254 bezel just not fit the 2231?

For reference the bezel I installed was a brand new 082SU1464.
