Afternoon all, I acquired my 2254.50 year before the last and subsequently fully serviced with Omega UK after a lot of back and forth issues with hairs in the dial. I have full box and papers for it, it was purchased in March 2000, however, looking at the serial number it appears to be dated 2006, but the numbers match with warranty card dated 2000. Anyone had any similar issue?

Not sure what chart you are looking at, but those are guesses at best (especially for non-Speedmaster models after the 70s or so). If your warranty card is dated 2000 and the serial number matches that, then it was produced in 1999-2000.

Yeah but if you look on the sites which date via serial number, it comes up as 2006, it's weird.

Have you confirmed that the serial number on the movement matches the warranty card?

As I said, those are based on speculation and extrapolation at best. Why would you trust a chart you found on the internet over the official documents that came with your watch?

If you thought it was fake, I could see the concern. But you said it was serviced by Omega UK recently - they would not service a fake watch.

That is because those site that list serial by year are useless for some models and eras. You can't date an SMP using a generic online table. I would guess your serial is somewhere around 60-61m, or possibly 80-81m. It sounds crazy I know but the serials jumped 20m around year 2000. Perhaps this may indicate the problem with using a table that gives a year per million serials.
