jets your watch is just beautiful!

When I first got my 2254 i compared it to the blue Bond watch and found that the big numbers on the bezel insert made the bezel look narrower, witch I like a lot.

And it get me pussy!
It's nice having pussy when it comes to you 😜 But yeah the thing is I prefer the arabic numerals on the sword smps more than the bond ones.

I found this; a photo of my modded one when it arrived with PO seconds hand (restored back to original now) and my brothers untouched 2254. The AR makes a diff:

I have 2 for sale in the UK. I used to be on C24 before they started to get too big for their boots and fees became totally ridiculous.

Both have box and papers and mint. Drop me a DM

While I agree with the foregoing in that the 2254.50 does not appear to be particularly rare, it does appear to be appreciating in value nicely. I think it embodies the look and function of a classic.

here are my sword hand Seamasters (2264.50 and 2265.80 - yeahhh, I bought the quartz). These too have seem to risen in value since my purchase of them about 1.5 years ago. Absolutely love these pieces and don’t foresee ever letting them go.

I’ve been known you live by the sword… at one time this was my smp collection.

2254.50 is one of my favourite watches. I invested in the ridged rubber strap with deployant that looks so cool. Glad they are still so appreciated. Too many modern Seamasters are far too thick. I saw a nice one for sale in the Uk on www.vintage speedmaster.com for anyone interested

You get all kinds of points from me for having 5 out of 6 synchronized (including seconds hand). Well done!

Regarding the crystal, that is news to me, maybe our resident watchmaking genius Al @Archer or A N Other watchmaker with access to the Extranet might care to comment. Is the crystal the same on the 2254.50 and 2230.50?

EDIT, having just looked at Cousins, it isn't completely clear but it may indeed be different!

Thanks Al. I guess this shows yet again that it pays to not assume anything where Omega is concerned. This also shows that when you monkey around with bezel swaps, in certain circs you can end up with a proud or sunken crystal if the crystal and bezel aren't paired up properly.

It's not just the case parts. The hand heights of the movements are different as well, so for example the entire hand set is 1/2 a mm taller in the 22305000 to clear the applied markers on the dial (the hour wheel, cannon pinion, and seconds hand are all taller in this model).

People assume because they look similar that they are essentially the same watch with some different looking parts, but this is very far from the reality.

2254.50 was my 1st luxury watch. I had some thoughts about selling it a few times in past couple years. I do not need the money; just thinking about taking advantage of price appreciation. However, I really didn't make much. I bought it for $1600 new from AD 15 years ago. Let's say it is worth $3500 today. That is 5.75% annualized return (using online calculator). And roughly 3% of that is eaten away by inflation. So effectively just 2.75% appreciation. It's not a lot.

And all watch prices have gone up. With the sales proceeds, it will be difficult to get another similar/equivalent watch at that price. So I'm glad I had my common sense and didn't take any action.

This was last year after service. The bracelet was previously scuffed up with normal wear. And looked new after service.

I normally have it on leather strap. I really like how easy this watch pairs with strap. It works well with any strap I put on it.
