Hi Guys, i have to admit i am a little bit confused here.
I know that there is a Anniversary Speedmaster that has a Sapphire caseback
and i thought it was either the 20th or the 25th Anni Model.

But... and this is where i get confused... when i either google 20th or 25th Anniversary Speedmaster
i only find Photos of basically the same watch (the one with the engravings on the side of the case)

Maybe you can correct me if i am wrong about the seethrough caseback on a Anni Version or
help me to get rid of my confusion.

Thanks anyway

Cheers

René

There are loads of anniversary Speedmasters celebrating different anniversaries, just to make it more confusing.

Do you have a picture of the one you mean ?

Well, if you google for the 20th anniversary version you find pictures of this watch
DSC01948.jpg
this anniversary model came with three inscribtions

Apollo XI 1969
XXXX/2000 which seems pretty senseless to me
XXXX/2000 Apollo XI 1969

If you google for the 25th anniversary version you find also pictures of this watch
images

It also has an inscribtion on the side, but did it come with a sappire caseback?

Was there a "normal" non anniversary Speedy with a seethrough caseback in the Omega sales programm in 1994/1995?

The 20th Anniversary was ref 345.0022 and only had the normal caseback.

What you are showing as the 25th Anniversary came in two types, one of which had a sapphire back. There was 345.0062 limited to 2500 pieces with the usual caseback with xxx/2500 numbering.

Then there was 345.0808 which had a sapphire back. The first 999 were for Italy only and numbered on the side xxx/999. The rest were numbered xxx/2000.

So the answer to the question "did the 25th Anniversary have a sapphire back" is both yes and no !

Now that i had a bit more time i figured it out for myself.
There are 3 Versions of seethrough casebacks, 1 was for the 10th Anniversary and the other 2 were in the regular program since 1987.
It really is nice that the pages of Chuck are still online.😉

Thanks for your help

And there were also a couple of other special editions in 1994, both with sapphire backs. A white gold, white dial model, limited to 500. Or a platinum skeletonised version, limited to 50.

Sad but true, so what i did buy is a standard sapphire caseback Speedy from 1995 and a tad too expensive... shame on me 🍺
But at least it does come with papers, the huge wodden box, the original 1479 and the original velcro.

You're killin' me! I missed the opportunity to buy #5 of the white gold version from the original owner's son and now it's gone ;-(

Box, papers, strap and buckle: Same watch Chuck Maddox wrote about!
