Yeah it does look like all of the Swatch brands listed took it on the chin during this period, in relative and absolute terms. Makes you wonder if there is some common thread there.

Unsurprising that they are losing sales.

Too many variations, seems like several launches a year, plus novelty look-alike Omega branded swatches for a fraction of the price of an Omega service, let alone a watch.

There are 2 kinds of Rolex, Longines etc. - real and fake. There are 3 kinds of Omega - real, fake, and much cheaper look-alikes that their own group make.

The expensive statement on your wrist shouldn't need to be explained to a casual observer. "Yes it is a proper Omega even though it looks a lot like a $250 Swatch special."

I would start by replacing the CEO.
That's the first priority.

I feel the Moonswatch is a great gateway product for the 20-somethings to then at later time upgrade to a real Omega (Speedmaster). And owning one, when asked, I am without shame telling people that this is mission to Uranus! 😎😇 ( it's kind of like owning Porsche Boxter vs. a 'real' thing... )

Of course reality and numbers may prove otherwise.

At least in Spain we are enjoying % discounts that I haven't seen in years. From 10% in hottest model (example reverse panda), to 25% in regular Speedmasters pro, 30% SMP, even 40% in especific models.
Also applies to other brands such as Tudor (around 20%), Longines (30-35%), etc.
Where do you find those percentages in spain? Looking at Chrono24, Spain doesn't stand out?

Spanish forum Relojes Especiales professional dealers section, webs like Wancora watches, for instance.

Interesting article. I don't know what to think, but wasn't Omega number two a few years ago? Either way, it sure doesn't look good. I love the brand, but man, they need to tweak some things.

They were #2, as recent as last year. I think their offerings are all over the place. They need to cut back on all the different colors and reissues.

You’d be correct, just gave it a second look. Swatch #3

There’s some watches in the catalog I’m convinced nobody would buy

People love to get all wound up about these rankings. It's usually fodder for the Moonswatch haters, and the oft repeated claim that Omega makes too many models. Well, they have always made a lot of models going way back to the 40's and 50's, and frankly that's one reason I like this brand so much.

Collectors are such a small segment of their business, it wouldn't be wise for them to follow the advice of a small group of narrowly focused people, so hopefully they just keep doing what they have always done, which is make something for everyone. To me it's their biggest strength.

I just wish their retail pricing was… 30% lower. But that’s what the preowned market is for.

name and shame most of the deville line
The constellation line is pretty bad too. So little of the heritage is available, to the point that the globemaster is basically the only 'good' looking not-special-release version.

TBH, the Moonswatch helped Omega a ton, and history will show that it got a ton of folks (myself included!) into the brand.

I like the variety as well, there is something for everyone. It seems to me that it would cut on PROFITS, but not sales. Do we really think people are going into the AD, saying "boy, I love that watch there, but there is ALSO a blue and a green one, so I'm going to buy a Rolex instead"?.
