It was indeed a fun race to watch. Much more action than expected. One more to go this season!

And then this dreadful season can end…

That was a great race!

There may have been more passing than any other two races combined...

Congrats to whomever laid out that track.

Sadly I don't think it was the track. More likely the lack of data because it's a new track and they lost FP1. I expect normal service will resume next year. Hope I'm wrong though!

Not entirely convinced F1 owning its own track is good for other tracks or the sport in general. Gives them too much leverage when negotiating fees for other tracks. Even if F1 in Vegas bombs, other tracks will have to step in to prop it up with increased fees.

Some really great footage of the six-wheel Tyrrell F1 car driving around Monaco, the control of the understeer is seriously impressive..

Yeah I was looking at that track with an ex driver and we thought it was horrible. Once we saw the practice, it was OMG the width this might be a great race!

It was!

82 total overtakes, 17 by Lewis!

So what’s the prediction for 1-5?

Rb
Merc
Ferrari
McLaren
Aston

this is my prediction for final standings. 2/3 and 4/5 are in the air…

That was very honourable of Leclerc not to back Russell up..

Yaz Marina is not a Great circuit to end the season with, often leaves me feeling a bit flat.. In hindsight, Las Vegas would have actually been perfect!

Pretty underwhelming finish to an unexciting season.

Next year the last race is Dec 8th, Las Vegas will never be the last race due to ambient temperatures. LV will need to be brought forward on the calendar where race conditions are more suitable. The calendar is set for '24 but there will be changes after that to make the schedule easier on the teams and reduce the travel.

If he had dropped back to delay Russell he'd have been in serious danger of finishing third even after Perez' penalty was applied. Good thinking by Charles though.

That's a non-argument, it's plenty warm enough during the daytime in early December in Las Vegas.
.. and the cold conditions for the nighttime race that we've just witnessed, provided a thrilling race. They'd be crazy to bring It forward.

I haven't worked out the numbers, but I think it might have been enough to gain Ferrari second place and a lot more prize money..

After Checo was allowed past Charles I was watching the gap to George via the F1.com live timing app. Charles was about 2.6 sec behind Checo and 1.8 ahead of George. That adds to 4.4 sec which has little headroom to the 5.0 penalty. Backing towards George would also put him within DRS range and while George is not in the league of Danny Ric in his heyday as the master of the late lunge he's no slouch 😀

Anyone else notice the camera work / direction below par this season? I believe F1 have taken the broadcast in house and I've been frustrated many times this season when they've either missed some battles and focused on a car with nothing around it, or followed a battle but panned to some stupid arty wide shot and miss the actual action at crucial moments. Really hope they improve that next season as it really ruined the viewing experience for me.

I noticed that too the past few races. Some overtakes are completely missed and are shown on replay instead. I'm not talking about some overtake of 19th vs 18th but action where points are on the line.
