·There are some Youtube videos talking about how much the GP is messing up LV. A lot of the locals that live and work there hate the GP. I don't see this one lasting longer than 2-3 years before being scrapped.

....that after spending $300-400M?? They could care less about locals hating it, it's all about drawing audiences across the world. They had projected this event to eclipse the Super Bowl, but with less enthusiasm surrounding Max (not exactly Mr. personality) those projections may not hold. Vegas is not going to fold it's tent and leave after 2-3 yrs., I don't see that happening. What I do anticipate that viewership and interest waning if RB continues its dominance, it's not the same as TB12 or others mentioned above, Max is not comparable to Brady or Hamilton who are a lot more charismatic and likeable.

Hamilton. Charismatic? I must have been watching another Lewis over the years.
The problem isn't Max's personality or RB's dominance, it's the phoniness that has captured much of F1 that has made it less about racing and more about entertainment and social statements.
You can hate on Lewis all you want but there's a reason why Lewis is more than just an F1 champion, gets cheered at every GP except Dutch GP, and other athletes and celebrities want to hang out with him. No other driver gets the same respect or love that Lewis gets.

How do my American friends feel about the Vegas track? Looking from the outside in it annoys me that there's proper racing heritage at places like sebring and instead they have to construct some extravaganza in Vegas because... It's Vegas. To me it seems soulless and not much different to those new middle eastern tracks built in the desert. At least in America you have a long and strong tradition of racing, especially endurance, and it would seem more authentic to build an f1 legacy on top of that. To me at least.
But I guess it's the spectacle and liberty media need to pay the bills somehow. Didn't realise until today that they were underwriting the Vegas track. Spent, I think, half a billion so far.
It's no different than what every city with a street circuit has to go through. It's just those cities are used to it now, and that's why you don't hear them complaining. Vegas could be the same in a few years. Once the locals get used to a little bit of inconvenience, they will stop complaining and get on board with it.
There is a history of racing in Vegas with F1.
Sebring and Laguna Seca need too much upgrading to support F1, and as such most of the historical US tracks are not interested.
my understanding is Watkins Glen could do it but not really any of the others.
Yeah I'm aware they've run f1 there before but essentially it was in the car park and no one liked it from what I remember. This one will at least be different (not in a car park) but still feels contrived.

Honestly, I'm not really a fan of the LV track. I really don't think the US needs 3 races in a season.
