I don’t have anything to add to the conversation? But spotted this at the beginning of quali

ah, Monaco

Yeah this was on racer.com earlier this week. Some partnership between a new supercar buying website and some rich guy.

Agree, it's just a shame more often than not the racing at Monte Carlo doesn't live up to the excitement of the qualifying sessions... but you never know, we might get lucky tomorrow..
This is part of why Monaco Q is so exciting. A bad Q and you're Sunday is basically done compared to other races where you still have a chance to overtake.

Yeah, the Quali is exciting but race day is just meh now.

These cars are too big for the track (and they have been for years, if not decades). I absolutely love the nostalgia with Monaco but I’m just not sure about it being on the schedule from a racing standpoint.

I pretty much feel the same way. If Monaco were dropped from the calendar, I wouldn't be disappointed at all. Now if Spa, Silverstone, or Monza were to be dropped, I'd be very disappointed.

No matter the limitations the Monaco track imposes it is the premier glamour event on the world's motor racing calendar. Every driver wants to add a Monaco win to their career achievements, it's a marketable ($$) achievement that will be to a driver's benefit even after he retires. It's that big. I don't think F1 would ever get rid of it. The best description of driving the track came from David Coultard some years ago, "Driving at Monaco is like flying a helicopter in your lounge room", there is just no room for error, it may well be a procession but the front runner has to be almost perfect for 78 laps and your pit strategy and performance better be bang on.

Looks like it might rain for the race today... Could liven things up very nicely. Or, conversely, could be a sea of red flags and safety cars!

An Italian supercar and salty sea air. Not sure it's the combo I'd expose my F40 to. Certainly got a lot of attention though.

Yes ordinarily.. although in this instance it's virtually all carbon fiber

Let's hope it's the former, rather than the latter. )(

Yes, qualifying in Monaco is nearly always exciting, but the Grand Prix is on a Sunday and is invariably as dull as dishwater, very occasionally a spanner gets thrown into the works, but we really shouldn't need to rely on spanners (even if it were well aimed by the likes of the late Ken Miles 😉 ) and in terms of car scale, yes these cars are really big nowadays, but even if the cars were significantly smaller it would make little difference; you'd have to go right back to the days before downforce and ground effect where the likes of Graham Hill and Jim Clark were the Golden boys. Yes, there's great history at Monte Carlo, but it's mostly distant memory, just like Brooklands or the original Nurburgring; Monaco should be scrapped as a Grand Prix circuit, I feel little sentimentality in doing that..

I thought it was just the tub. Either way there's still a fair bit of stuff I wouldn't be exposing to the sea...

Yeah, I think it probably had a steel tubular chassis, unlike its adversary, the McLaren F1 which had a cutting-edge carbon fiber monocoque,

Yes, it definitely upped the BPM, but even with the downpour it didn't produce great racing, and on the whole, chaos doesn't tend to produce great racing, it may give a bit more excitement to something that was relatively mundane or banal, and chaos can definitely produce some very interesting results; but great racing.. very rarely

The rain was hanging out on the backside hill. I tried not to laugh but couldn't help myself watching them skid around.

Just watched the Indy 500.. Any Thoughts??
Not a big fan but I occasionally dip in, thought Marcus Ericsson was gonna do it again and almost did until the final lap.

I wonder what happens if you're lactose intolerant? Dairy-free? Vegan? Do they get offended but you're not going to guzzle on the mammary gland extraction of a lactating bovine?
