Liking the new camera locations at Monaco, makes it refreshing. Maybe something to do with F1TV being the host broadcaster for the first time.

Yep, the view from above is particularly interesting as it shows how short the track is. Combined with the better onboard cameras you can really get an idea of how tricky it is racing for 78 laps.

Agree. It just looks ‘new & fresh’ and maybe what the circuit needed from a TV perspective. The old coverage was, like the race, predictable.
It particularly flows better from Sainte Devote to Mirabeau.

Looking like an interesting quali so far, massive track evolution which could mix things up

What a Q3! I hope Alonso gets a good grip at the start tomorrow.

MadMax first P1, 40% of the time it’s been determining factor in winning the race. Mercedes upgrades didn’t seem to have made material difference.

I was screaming at the TV when he went provisional pole with Max looking like he was two tenths down, then Max somehow hits two walls in sector 3 to pull that off, what an amazing lap by both of them. Pretty anonymous by Ferrari, especially with Leclerc looking at a penalty

Me too 😁😁
I hope the race will be just as exciting as the quali!

Unfortunately it probably won’t be unless it rains.

Max probably gained some time by hitting those walls.... just like I did as a kid racing this track in Gran Turismo.

I'm not a Max fan, but that was some impressive driving in Q3, especially that last sector

Don't think they were expecting much from Monaco. They were supposed to be for Imola but the cancellation ruined that. Will have to wait for the next race to really judge the upgrades I think.

It's obviously impressive but I couldn't understand why the commentators were so over the top about it - max was consistently massively quicker in sector 3 compared to everyone else. It wasn't like it came out of nowhere.

Alonso was on fire, and a joy to watch.. Pity about Leclerc, but very happy for Esteban Ocon, so hope he can hold on to 3rd, it's going to be very difficult though.

This Monaco GP is a bit like a testing ground for Merc, although there's not a great deal that they can learn from this track,
I think it's a good sign that they look pretty sharp at Monaco, based on the fact that they've never raced this radically different (especially the floor and front end) B-spec car..

The honing will take place over several races such as the Spanish Grand Prix and the like.. and the Circuit De Catalunya is the ideal testing ground..

That was an awesome qually!
Agree, it's just a shame more often than not the racing at Monte Carlo doesn't live up to the excitement of the qualifying sessions... but you never know, we might get lucky tomorrow..

Agree, doesn't make sense for them to go lights out during the race when two cars can't even fit on the track together at once. I love Monte Carlo and it's one of the first races that got me into watching f1 quite a few years back. I visited there and just fell in love with the place. It's definitely a parade race though. Perez wrecked bc he had no idea where to go with the dude (ocon??) coming out of the pit. The track just doesn't work anymore. Watching flying laps though is badass.....

Badass indeed.. Pushing it to the absolute limit and beyond, there's nothing quite like it.

I don’t have anything to add to the conversation? But spotted this at the beginning of quali
