··Omega Qualified WatchmakerSo there's always the question of whether a strap "IS used on" a watch, and whether it "CAN BE used on" a watch
Exactly - that's the issue with people posting information that isn't correct. There are two ways to know if a particular strap or bracelet will work on a particular watch:
1 - Omega used it on the watch originally
2 - Someone has bought one and physically tried it.
This is a case of #2, rather than #1. The OP in this thread was asking specifically if the strap he was looking at was made "for" the Speedmaster because he had concerns that it fit just perfectly. That is why I corrected the notion that the strap originally quote was for the Speedmaster Pro, because it isn't.
While the packaging might not match what comes directly from Omega in many ways it's actually nicer. The pic by @JVK_watches looks to be heat-sealed thick gauge vacuum packaging, while the Omega packaging for straps is usually just a very thin and narrow plastic sleeve with flimsy adhesive keeping it closed.
The issue with the packaging is that it's not original Omega packaging, leading to questions of authenticity, and it's also potentially misleading in how it's labelled for "Speedmaster" and Omega straps are never labelled this way.
BTW the strap package posted above looks no different in terms of the plastic and "quality" than what Omega sends them in so thin plastic with adhesive on the fold over as you describe. The packaging you say is heavy heat sealed plastic is from the buckle - that is original Omega packaging.
