Watch has been passed down from my dad to me within the last 6 months. 2 months ago I put the watch in the shop for much needed cleaning, replacing the mainspring, top chronograph pusher, buffing the crystal and a new strap. I asked about replacing the crystal but, was told the existing one can be buffed. Inquired with the Omega service center in California about service. Had to pass just for the fact that they rejuvenate to as close as new as possible. I want to keep it as original as possible with the patina. What do you guys think? Please, give me much feedback.

Hi and welcome on board!

Movement needs serious work (hairspring, worn screwheads) but the substance of the watch looks good as far as we can see from this pictures, case might be very nice

Would be interesting to see better close up pictures of the dial...

Beeing in Europe I think it's better to wait for the US guys to recommend someone to bring it back to live

Don't give it to Omega or a random watch repair shop near by, the 321 movement needs a specialists hand!

Have the feeling it will turn out very good in the end!

All the best!

Hello!

I would agree with you that the patina needs to be preserved. In this case, I would not send it to Omega and send it to a reliable independent watchmaker in your country. Plenty of recommendations on this forum so the search function is your friend. All it needs is a movement service, new crystal and a new strap then it鈥檚 good to go.

Nice heirloom and hope you wear it for years to come.

Full marks for getting your money's worth out of that strap!...I don't think I've ever seen one in such a state and yet still ( just ) operational 馃榿

I think the dial is in pretty good condition considering the rest of the watch! I'd get it serviced/repaired by an independent Omega expert and would enjoy the crap out of it since its an heirloom.

Hec of a first omega. Just the fact it was your dads is enough to make it special but that鈥檚 is very nice even without the family heirloom part. It should clean up nicely. Make sure you post when you get it back. Cool idea your dad or whoever had using tape on the watch band. Really with either tape, wd-40 and a hammer you can fix pretty much anything

What a fabulous 1st Omega, a 321 Seamaster and a 1-year only reference (1961) to boot! Movement is correct with symmetrical bridge, but yes lot of work required. Please send this to a specialist and not Omega and don't touch the dial - and for that matter the case in any way! Let it look like a well-loved watch. Would appreciate before and after pics once it's been correctly serviced and brought back to life.

Thank you sir! Once it comes back to me, I'll post updated pictures. I should have asked the forum about specialist to send it to.

ROTFLMAO, I never had the pleasure of wearing it yet. This is the state it was gifted to me, LOL.
